Louie R.Service in Thunder Bay was fine. The issue is UHaul's approach to one way trips. Booking in advance seems meaningless and there is no attempt to notify or help the customer until the last minute. This is the second one way trip this year that I have booked with UHaul and it is the second time UHaul's approach to one way bookings let me down. Made me lose time. Made me lose money. Caused avoidable stress during a move (apparently moving is one of the top 3 most stressful events humans go through even without terrible service from UHaul). At the last minute they notified me that the vehicle I reserved weeks in advance was not available. I ended up having to drive an hour instead of 10 minutes to pick up a truck. UHaul increased the truck mileage a little, but what about all the extra fuel I had to pay for? The wear and tear on my vehicle and nearly 2 hours of lost time when already on a schedule? Unfortunately there are sometimes limited or no alternatives to using UHaul and it seems UHaul takes advantage of that at the expense of the customer. Although I would like to never use UHaul again, another scenario may come up when UHaul is the only option and I will likely be at their mercy once again.
