Being a Retired AFM, you should never charge a fee to drop-off customers. You want repeat customer's, Not unhappy one's.
A little hard to find but very helpful and friendly.
People were very nice but with running a liquor store also I waited a good 30min to get paperwork done and be able to leave with u haul trailer as store customers kept getting waited on before me. Return of trailer was quick and easy.

Equipment was dusty and dirty. The person on site didn't seem to mind these conditions. I'd rent another uhaul but I will clean it out myself... ?????
The checkout was really slow. I did online check in and it took 40 minutes to check in while I was on site. I was the only person at the store and using uhaul. I had to load the trailer myself. The attendant was not professional in speech or demeanor. This is my 4th time using uhaul and the 1st time we "had to contact my emergency contact before using the trailer." This experience left a bad image in my mind for uhaul however I've had a great experience the 3 other times. Personnel was the problem not uhaul.
When I arrived to pick up the trailer that I had rented online the man behind the counter of the rental desk/liquor store appeared to have no idea why I was there and seemed baffled by the fact that I had a reservation. I showed him my reservation information and he said he wasn't able to locate it. After waiting for 10 minutes he finally found my information and confirmed everything thing with me and then proceeded to ask me all of the same questions again that I had already answered for the reservations. When that was done he made a copy of my driver license which is fine but then asked me a third time all of the same questions from the previous and my online reservation. After repeating all of the information three times he lost the copy of my drivers license and had to make another and then proceeded to tell me that I had to give him another phone number. I informed him that the number I gave him was my only number and he argued with me that I had to use a second number. After telling him that I would just leave a go rent some place else he finally told me he didn't need a second number. I waited another 10 minutes and finally he completed the rental. I never received any paperwork until later that night via email and he never verified that the trailer was ready to go or that there was no damage. He just walked outside pointed out what trailer I was going to be taking and he went back inside. Overall this was by far the worst experience I have ever had renting anything. I am highly disappointed and most certainly will NOT recommend this rental facility to anyone that I know.

Everything went smoothly
My one major compliant was that I ordered a furniture dolly. I was supposed to be guaranteed to get it. When we went to pick up the truck, the place didn't have any and I was charged the difference for the only dolly that was available. I shouldn't have had to pay a difference for that.
Unacceptable! This was unbelievably ridiculous. I walked into a LIQUOR STORE on a Sunday 3 miles away from my one way destination and there was a U-HAUL next door! So I paid extra miles and time to drip off at a liquor store and deal with this! She told me "if you want to be chared properly you should wait!" Ran down the list of things she had to do and told me she couldn't do it while people were in the store. Terrible customer service.
Did Express check in, still took very long to verify the information entered. Either slow internet service, or slow UHaul site. Reserved and paid for furniture pads, but they don't supply any. I have to make calls to get a refund.
I was greeted friendly and taken care of immediately, I was very impressed.
I thought it was strange that a liquor store was also a Uhaul pickup/dropoff, but I dealt with 2 employees there and they were both very courteous, helpful and got me in and out in no time. The truck I got was clean, had a full tank and was in great condition. The only downside was they had no furniture pads, but I ended up not needing them anyway. Next time I need a Uhaul I'm definitely going to try to get it from this location.
Only one worker in liquor store and dealing with U-Haul equipment. This worker does not know how to do computer work and paper work. It took at least 1 1/2 hour before I finally got trailer out. This is totally unacceptable. In addition, this worker does not know how to hook up the trailer, thankfully, I know how to hook it up. But this worker does not verify or check the equipment and connections like any other U-Haul would do. This demonstrates that this was very poor handled by the worker or the office in Freeport, IL. Very frustrating!!! In addition, I got an email confirming that I can pick equipment up at 8 am but I arrive and find out that it does not open until 10 am. That make two hours later plus an hour and half waiting for worker to complete the computer work. that automatically made 3 1/2 hours later than planned to leave and that ruins my schedule plans and had to make changes in our schedule plans. This adds up to my frustration and was not at all pleased with the services provided.
I dipped the truck off July 28th at 745 am. I didn't even have the truck 24 hours. And star shine spirits didn't check the truck in until the next day so I got charged $80 because they were lazy and I think they are trying to scam customers! Because they were open at 9 am that Sunday I dropped it off!!!!
YOU SENT ME ALL THE WAY TO FREEPORT INSTEAD OF FIXING THE PROBLEM IN JANESVILLE. THE POOR ATTENDANT AND I SPENT 4 HOURS TRYING TO GET THE TRAILER ISSUED.
The original drop off area was 50 miles away, so I contacted U-Haul for another possible drop off. The first offered did not exist as an ongoing business; the second refused to accept the trailer, as they just didn't have room or the time to help me. The third location was staffed by John, who was polite and helpful. He offered to, and I accepted, back up the trailer into a parking spot. Perfect on the first try! Paperwork completed, and I was on my way. Excellent location staffed by a first generation immigrant to America. We need more immigrants like John to add to our growing society.
It would be nice if the location could take cash and set up storage was told by uhaul thatbi had to set up storage when i checked in but we moved on a sunday and no one was open or no storage available so we were left ditching our stuff in a friend's basement out of the way. And then charged $8 at drop off location for the extra milage. The lady who checked is in tried her best and was helpful. It took us an hour and 40 mins though to get the the whole process. Should have taken 5 mins. Charge card sign paper work get keys.
Prior to going to the rental location on Friday May 10th, I did the online check-in to speed the process up. When I arrived at the location there was only 1 employee working and one other customer in the store. After the employee, Edna, finished up with the customer (about 5 minutes) she came over to help me. I would estimate that it took about 10 minutes to complete the process, which was a little long considering I already did the online check-in. After completing the check-in I was told that I could go outside and retrieve the utility trailer that I had rented. Having rented U-Haul's several times in the past I was very surprised that nobody came outside with me to verify that there was no damage to the unit. I left with the trailer at about 10:20am. After completing my use of the U-Haul utility trailer I returned it to the store at about 1:00pm, well before my 6-hour rental was done. I parked the trailer exactly where it had been when I picked it up and I went inside the store. When I went into the store employee "Edna" was no longer there and now there was a male subject of Indian descent working at the counter. At the time I entered there were two (2) male customers at the cash register talking with the Indian male employee about how to charge a cell phone. Since the store doesn't sell cellular phones I thought this conversation was strange but I stood patiently nearby and waited for about five (5) minutes. The Indian male employee eventually came over to me and didn't say a word but gave me a look like I was bothering him. I showed the Indian male my paperwork from the trailer rental and I told him that I just parked it in the lot. The Indian male just looked at me and then walked back to the cash register and continued to converse with the two (2) male subjects who were not buying anything. After about five (5) more minutes of me standing there I asked the Indian male if there was something else I needed to do to return my U-Haul trailer. The Indian male employee took my rental paper and told me "no". I thought this was odd because in the past whenever I have returned a U-Haul rental someone has always come outside and inspected the unit for damage. I was very uncomfortable about how this return was being handled so I went outside and used my cell phone to take a bunch of date/time stamped photographs to prove that I returned it on-time and with no damage. As it would turn out this was a great move by me. The next day (Saturday May 11th) I received a telephone call from employee "Edna" wanting to know why I had not returned the rental trailer. Needless to say I was extremely angry at this point and I told Edna that I had returned it on-time the day before and the trailer was parked in the same spot as where I retrieved it. I told Edna that I noticed that their store has video surveillance and that the store's cameras would prove what I was saying was correct. I also told Edna that I had pictures on my phone that pro
I'll tell you what to improve. Have the guaranteed rental at the location and time that was booked. We had a rental for the 26 foot truck on Elmwood road in Rockford Illinois at 8 :30 am on May 3, 2019. We arrived at 8:15 and there was not any truck there. The dealer had NO knowledge of our rental as he rented the 26 footer the day before and was not aware of when the truck was to return. He called mainoffice and they directed us an hour away to pickup rental. that dealer did not open until 10 am, so we could not confirm. I had hired n Moving company to assist with moving from 9:30 to 11:30. I did not come back to rockford until 11:20 . On top of that we did not arrive to our final destination until 11:30 pm. This whole experience was unacceptable. The attitude of the Elmwood dealer and U-Haul service rep was not one of compassion or caring.it was more of , oh well, we can give you a $50.00 credit,, what a joke.
