Shovel the vehicles out! App didn’t work correctly

Very disorganized. Had to speak to someone on cell phone, and dolly was not in the truck as told it would be (we did not have it or use it, so would like a refund). Then got an angry voicemail this morning that the truck was not returned and a customer was waiting for it this morning (the truck was returned at 4pm last evening). When I returned the call, I was told it was a mistake and they found the truck but forgot to call me back. It’s hard to misplace a 20” truck. This was unnecessarily stressful and poorly coordinated.

The original reservation was changed to another location much further away from where I needed it. This is unprofessional just to try to charge more for the miles. Also, I had placed a reservation for dollies and they did not have them available. The person on the phone said that I was supposed to let him know. Then, what is the point of adding them to the reservation.

The Uhaul assistant was not there when i showed up. In his defense, I was an hour later, but he did not call to verify the appointment. Also, he was very short with me over the phone, and in some cases, very rude. He said he was there at 8am, but the attendant there did not acknowledge that this was true. He then said that he may not have the truck for me to rent. Even though i was staring right at it. What's the point in taking a reservation for the day if the truck isn't going to be kept reserved?? And why stress the customer until you know for a fact that it is or isn't ready?! And at one point, the Uhaul rep said "i have to call you back" and hung up on me. He called back in a few minutes, but it was very rude. Also, when i opened the back of the truck, it was filled with about 30 blankets and some moving carts which i did not rent. The attendant said to take them, but i had him call the Uhaul rep and he said to leave them. I had to move all of these items myself to another truck so that i would not be charged for them. I did this MYSELF....the truck was not ready in my opinion.

This franchise is located at a run-down gas station with unfriendly people who seem to resent assisting the franchise owner, who apparently runs things entirely remotely. The cargo area of the truck smelled really bad. The appliance mover hand truck and moving blankets I reserved were unavailable.

For starters, failure to honor my original secured pickup and then trying to arrange the customer to drive 20 miles out of the way for a replacement. Then, the customer settles for less than he originally desired and gets to the booking appointment on time, but has to wait :45 minutes because the person in charge isn’t available. Horrible, absolutely horrible experience.

I booked a 20 foot truck a week in advance which was the longest I could due to having to move to a new apartment at short notice, the day before at 3pm while I was at work I was called to say I couldnt get a 20 foot truck, they only had a 26 foot and it wouldn't be ready until noon when my original booking was for 9am. I couldnt wait to start moving until that late due to it would be very late by the time we actually got to the location and start unpacking, so I had to take a 15 foot truck which almost all of our belongings didn't fit in which would have resulted in a second trip and more gas and mileage. I arrived at the place of pick up, there was no signage anyone to tell me this was a place to pick up a uhaul, just a gas station. Waited inside the gas station for around 15mins without seeing anyone at the desk or any employees. I had to go find a gas station attendant who instructed me to call a number, spoke to someone over the phone who did not confirm who they were, or that they worked for uhaul. Didnt confirm my license number only confirmed my name, no one even looked at my drivers license to confirm who I was, so anyone could have given my name and taken the truck. After speaking to the man over the phone for about 5mins I was instructed to tell the gas attendant a truck number and he gave me the keys, no walk around was done on the truck to check for damage so I am lucky that I took the insurance Beucase I could have been accused of damaging the truck if there were any dents since no one checked before we left and no one took down the current gas mileage and no one made me sign any kind of contract what so ever. Overall my first uhaul experience was terrible, and very bad business.

Please be clear that this location is managed remotely. That means you have to call the phone number and conduct the return over the phone. Keys are then left with the gas station attendant. If I knew this ahead of time, I would have chosen a different location.

The process of picking up was unclear and inefficient. Also through a glitch in the uhaul system my reservation got cancelled after I picked up the truck. The email sent addressing the situation was highly inappropriate, unprofessional, and aggressive. I will not be using uhaul again because of my interactions with the personnel attached to this location.
