To start this review, this was all done through the mobile uhaul system.The vehicle was completely covered in snow. We had to dig the vehicle out before we could even leave. This consumed some of our time. We were initially late to return the vehicle due to some unforeseen circumstances. We were attempting to return the vehicle but was unable to get into the gate. There was no way to retrieve the code that was given to us initially. This code should be reflected somewhere on the contract. When attempting to reach anyone that can provide the code. I stumbled on a frozen sheet of paper that indicated that the hour had been changed to 1pm to 4pm. The online hours did not reflect this and still stated 10am to 5pm. This was very frustrating. Eventually, I called uhaul 1800 number. At the time I called their database was down, which was unfortunate. I called again the next day and the individual was able to look into their system and tell me the code to get into the gate. Nubia and two other individuals from truck share was very helpful in this process. I have never had a bad experience from uhaul besides this place. I will not ever be coming to this location again. Some advice for this location would be to make the gate code the confirmation number or put the gate code in the contract. The uhual representative stated that the code was not accessible to me.

We had booked uHaul for self pick up, we reached this location and noticed a big gate, and dial pad across it to open it up. I could see our truck parked inside around 30 40 feet far. I launched my u Haul app, and started process to pick up the truck. First thing it asked do you see the truck inside/outside the gate. I said YES. Next thing it did ask is - "Is there any damage on truck marked with X sign!" How am I supposed to see that on truck parked so far ! I could not get in, as we did not have code for the gate. We called u Haul a bunch of times. First call - they tried to call manager of this place, who was supposed to give me a call with the code, who never did. s+Second call - u haul representative told me cannot get in touch with the manager and I will have to look up MYSELF other places who can give me u haul now or pick up next day morning. We then tried calling secure self storage number printed on the wall, first rep gave us a code which did not work. Second rep directed us to u haul and no one picked up, third call, same story. By this time we were rally mad and cold, it was raining - next call to secure self storage got us in touch with a sensible representative. She told us the app would ask for our picture, licence picture to verify the identity and then release the gate code to us ! Dang ! I have no idea why other representatives could not tell us that !!! I have no idea why the app is not intuitive either ! We ran into one more problem, it does not say anywhere reservation has to be on driver's name ! I reserved the truck and my husband was added as driver, so truck could not be released. They had to remove him as driver, add myself. I had to re-login into app and then redo everything. This rep was really really nice! Stayed with us through entire call, until we got the keys and truck was released. To summarize,it was a painful experience, and we spent like an hour just to pick up the truck ! I hope UHaul would make their app intuitive, tell users in the beginning of pick up process when and where the gate code is. Also train the representatives for this scenario better!

Very hard to find and not in a great area, very secluded for a woman to go by herself. But the woman in charge at that location was super helpful with all instructions on how to hook up my trailer etc. she was very flexible with my timing to come and very efficient once I got there. Super friendly.

The lady who helped us pick up the truck was incredible. 10/10 would come back just for her - I just don't remember he name! Our pick up was at 430 pm on 5/5 though.


We had a 10 mile round trip for moving a living room set and was charged for 53 miles. This place is a joke. I made the reservation and when the drivers returned the truck the location called me and asked for my credit card info as she didn't have one on file and the one he was using did not work. Now I recieve an email stating I owe an additional 39 dollars because the correct fees were not deducted. This is the absolue worse UHAL location ever. I am a licensed Broker and alway have referred UHAUL to my clients during a move...NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Difficult to find, apparently Waukegan will not allow prominent signage. Very friendly, helpful staff. Online reservations were quick and easy.

Van was fine. The place closes early, so they told me to drop the keys in the drop box by the van's parking spot. Big problem I discover on returning - the keys don't fit. I called multiple times but never got a return call. Finally I was able to enter the facility with another customer and use the larger slot in the office door.
