Jeep Wrangler (2007-2021) Hitch Installation Steps

(Optional step)

If the clearance between the muffler and the cross member is less than three inches then you will need to lower the muffler with exhaust removal pliers.

If there is a weld slag then remove it before installation.

1. Raise Hitch into Position

Raise the hitch into position and align with the existing holes in the cross member.

2. Secure the Hitch to the Frame

Install the four bolts and install the hex flange lock nuts. Make sure the conical tooth washers are teeth-side against the hitch.

3. Tighten and Torque Hitch

Tighten with a wrench and socket until firmly in place. Set your torque wrench to 75 foot-pounds and tighten all four fasteners.

If you lowered your muffler, raise it now.

You should now have your trailer hitch installed on your Jeep Wrangler.
