How to Drop Off a U-Haul Truck After Hours

After hours of fitting boxes into your new house, you peek at your watch to realize how fast the time has passed. A quick Google search of “what time does U-Haul close,” tells you your rental truck drop-off location is closed for the night. What do you do now? We are here to help.

The U-Haul app is available to customers who are either returning rental vehicles after or before business hours or possibly want to return the rental online during regular business hours without the help of a U-Haul location’s customer service representative.

The process is very self-explanatory. The basis of returning a truck is reporting the correct mileage, how much fuel is in the truck, uploading photos of the truck’s cleanliness and condition in which you’re returning the truck.

On your mobile device, you’ll be asked questions about the truck’s performance like, “did you have any braking problems or electrical problems with the rental?” This helps us a company continue to keep all our customers safe while using our trucks. The final step will include finding the drop box or slot for the key, taking all your items out of the rental truck, locking it, and putting the key in its designed return spot.

U-Haul’s Return My Truck After Hours Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Sign into your U-Haul Account or onto the U-Haul app.
  2. Next a “Return My Truck” icon will appear, click on it.
  3. Your screen will indicate the appropriate place to park your truck at the U-Haul location.
  4. Before exiting the truck, take note of the mileage on the odometer, the fuel level, the cleanliness of the interior, show where the vehicle is parked, and report any new damage by uploading pictures.
  5. You’ll be prompted to answer the questions to help us as we mentioned above.
  6. Review the pending charges, grabs all your items out of the truck and to complete your return, tap the “Complete Truck Return” icon.
  7.  Lock the truck and place the key in its designated key box or slot.

After completing the after-hours drop off process, you will receive an email receipt detailing your final charges.

During the next business day, U-Haul will verify the information you provided. U-Haul will assess additional fees if mileage or fuel readings are misreported and/or damages are found.

With Truck Share 24/7, you can own your move by returning and picking up your rental on your schedule. It’s that simple!
