Tornado Recovery: U-Haul Offers 30 Days Free Self-Storage in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (May 29, 2019) — The U-Haul Companies of Southern Kansas and Northern Kansas are offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box® container usage to residents in and around Kansas City impacted by Tuesday night’s severe weather.

A large tornado skirted the Kansas City metro area but struck several towns in the region. Many houses have been damaged as a result.

“The tornado was so large it caused miles of destruction,” noted Gary Wittkopp, U-Haul Company of Northern Kansas president. “There are downed trees and power lines, and damaged homes. The impact has created a need for self-storage as our neighbors go through the clean-up process and require a place to bring their possessions. We want to help by offering one month of free self-storage to those in need.”
