It's a check in location in an old garage with a laptop on a box. Though this location is much better customer service over the other main location in Courtenay. Every try's to avoid the staff at the Cumberland road depotNathan B.

Huge potholes in the parking lot. I scraped the bottom of my car trying to get out of the lot. Was on hold with customer service for 40 minutes trying to do a drop off that should of taken 5 minutes online.JAIMIE B.

This location is simply a gas station with a parking lot beside it. You do all the pickup and drop off on your cell phone and don't really interact with the station. Leave yourself good 20 minutes or more to get through all the steps in the pickup process online. Make sure you have the right identification and information ahead of time and your cell phones working. I would recommend you set the pickup time when the gas station is open so they can help you with keys if necessary. It's Not recommended that you leave your car at this parking lot over night. Apparently there has been break-ins. Watch that you're booking contract has the same pickup location as drop off. U-Haul rerouted my drop off location to the otherwise of the city and that was very frustrating because I'd left my car in the area of the pickup location so it made things very challenging on drop off.Neil P.

We were given a 20 instead of a 15' truck which ended up costing and extra $187 for the ferry plus we had to go to the North Island location for the trailer. That location was filthy and they were not cleaning off the credit card equipment as per COVID. There were no employees to show us how to connect the car to the trailer so an older gentleman tried. This left us feeling uneasy and at one point the trailer was making a terrible noise. One of the ramps was dragging due to the fact that the bungee cord used to secure it was not tight enough. I would never rely on UHAUL again nor would I recommend this service.KIMBERLY C.

Your booking system is arduous!!! To have confirmation only the day before is challenging - and what we booked wasn't available but we wouldn't have known unless I had called. We had to upgrade to a bigger piece of equipment. I waited on hold for way too long only to be hung up on. Your booking system needs a big overhaul!!!KATHLEEN F.

I did the mobile pickup/drop off. Super easy. Sticky steering wheel. Muddy floors. The outer windshield was also very dirty. A quick wipe down and vacuum would help. Excellent stereo, multiple 12volt chargers for phones. Super instructions on how to operate things inside the truck. Recommend but bring some Lysol wipes to clean the touch surfaces!Stacy R.
The store I used is listed as a 24/7 pickup and drop-off location. However the website and app did not allow me to select a pick up time outside of the operating hours of the store, which defeats the purpose of the 24/7 self serve option. I had to call Uhaul and hold for over an hour to speak with a scheduling manager in order to get my desired pick up time. When picking up my vehicle there was an unanticipated extra verification step that required U-Haul to call someone else to confirm my identity (late at night!). Additionally the lock enclosing the keybox was jammed and needed oiling. I was able to open it after 20 minutes of fiddling and a little creative thinking. Upon drop-off, I informed the employee of the lock problem. Hopefully they will replace the lock! Overall, I required the 24/7 pickup service, but it is filled with pitfalls!!David L.

Trailer was not in good repair. Missing 1 securing chain that we had to rob from another unit. Unit had lots of damage and agent did not go over it with me, so I don't know if it was recorded on rental agreement.GLEN E.
There was no truck when we got there, they only could offer a 26' truck to where I ordered a 15' was charged too much, I gassed the truck up to the 5/8 mark where it was on pick up and then was charged an additional gas up rate.. And a huge extra cost if I were to drop the uhaul off at a dealer near my home.. Not to mention that nobody answers the phone. The whole experience was terrible...David W.

when customer returns trailer before closing on the same day customer rented trailer, you should only charge customer for 1 day rental and NOT 2 days rental. Is abusive. Is unnecessary. Demonstrates lack of respect. Is bad for business.IAN M.

Booked through broker on Lame Trail Rd. He was very helpful and confirmed trailer to match our vehicle. Pickup point manager on different site ( 157 ) was also very quick and helpful. When your calling people to tell them they can pick their truck up at 3:30pm, you should also inform them that the Uhaul closes at this location at 4pm. I was lucky enough that someone was still there, otherwise I would have gotten screwed. While i was picking up, 3 other people showed up to pick up a rental and NONE of them knew they closed at 4pm either. The staff at this location was great with all of this mess, we all got what we needed in the end.Gyneil A.

Have used U-Haul several times all across Canada, from Halifax to Courtenay and multiple places in between. I can honestly tell you the best service and most painless experience was from the Shell station in Courtenay! They are super friendly and had an overall outstanding experience with them. 100% recommend renting from here if you are in the Comox Valley area, or you can go to one of the others that rent U-Haul and wish you didn't! ðŸ¤£TARA B.

Perhaps make the actual pickup process more quick. I had no idea I was going to have to provide an additional contact person, wait for an agent to intervene and approve as well as approve the pickup. All of that could have been done during the reservation.Jes S.

Took almost an hour to get the contract and vehicle. The worker was alone and kept going out to pump gas. He also couldn't figure out something in the reservation process and told me he couldn't do it. Finally he called someone and they helped him. I had done a quick check-in inorder to pick up truck quickly and easily but he didn't seem to have that informaiton. Was EXTREMELY stressful. Would never, ever go back to that location. It took a very long time to get the rental. Even though I paid online, I still had to pay more when I showed up - defeating the entire purpose of why I paid online in the first place. The guy who helped us was working very hard, but he was also running the gas station too so I'd say they were understaffed, which caused me to spend more time there. The next day I came back to try and buy some boxes, but there were 4 people in line all waiting for a rental. I asked if I could just buy a few boxes but was told I would have to wait in line....so I left and bought some at Home Depot instead.MARK M.
1) The truck was extremely dirty and it was difficult to distinguish dirt from damage. There were many small damaged areas on the truck that had not been previously marked. 2) The U-Haul app works for check in but doesn't work for return. The location feature doesn't work even though I had location services turned on. 3) I was charged for moving blankets and a dolly even though I specifically said I didn't need them; the person at the location was not able to rectify that and I spent more than an hour on hold in order to speak with a customer service rep. I did get it resolved eventually though.ANTON L.
Overall experience was excellent but what I am put off about is a $20 late check-in fee. I did call and extend a rental for one more full day and because this is a gas station and the employee chose to check in the rental after hours and we are charged a fee for that. This is why I indicated not applicable for recommending this location to a friend as I am unsure if this is the practice they're gonna keep doing.jeniffer M.

This was my second time in 1 year using uhal and both I had to find alternative hauling options and abandoning the trailers. I speak of my story to other people and they said they all have bad experiences. Uhaul is going under.Richard B.

Pick up time and location were changed the day before pick up as the mobile app pick up was not actually available, despite this option being available to select online. If a booking is going to be changed it should be done as soon as the booking is received, not when it's too late to book with another company. The confirmation email should also clearly state that a CHANGE was made and why. I was sent 3 different different confirmation emails with only one of them noting a change in small print. I called to confirm exactly where and when I was now picking up and had to sit on hold for 15 minutes. When we mentioned at both pick up and drop off that the last minute time change was inconvenient we were offered no compensation or acknowledgement. I booked online for convenience, but in the end it was anything but convenient. The next time I need to rent a moving truck I will look into my other options first, and I'll just call directly. This location really needs a little bit of training and equipment for trailers specifically one of the dollys that lets staff push trailers around. Guy on duty was pleasant and helpful but didn't have a dolly so I had to laboriously back the trailer into placeâ€¦ then he didn't have chocks ready so it almost rolled onto road. Nice guy trying to help just train him and give him right equipment,ALISTAIR B.

this has nothing to do with either location, both locations were just fine. However, after I made my reservation and had the trailer hooked up I got a phone call from U-Haul Canada telling me I had to return the trailer to a different location more than 35 miles away from what I was told, a round trip of 70 miles. I was then told that the original facility I had chosen to return the trailer to didn't have the capability to accept trailers, although I'd done this twice before within the last 2 months. So you basically just lied to me, never a good corporate practice. I won't forget this nor will I hesitate to let my friends and family know about this.LORNE A.

The staff at this location went over and above to help me and make this a painless transaction. They help me set up the reservation the day before, in the morning I went in to pick up, they let me come early and they had me out of there and 15 minutes with my truck.
