ahmed M.The truck was in abysmal condition. the clamp on the back door had been twisted upward so it had to be locked closed with a loose chain and a lock. the broken piece was jutting upwards at the top of the ramp and instead of being repaired was just spray painted red. the driver's side lower mirror was broken off. no reverse beeps, so when I honked to alert that I was going reversing I realized that the horn wasn't working either. While driving, there were numerous times when the truck would not come out of first gear, so the engine was revving at 6000rpm on a flat road with no incline. overall, the vehicle should not have even been on the road, let alone be used for moves with a lot of cargo.

Charles B.I used this location previously and they were great. This time, my boyfriend and I were in a hurry to get to work and were unable to find in the check out details online. They charged us a $25 cleaning fee even though it was as clean as when we borrowed it. I feel they took advantage of a situation to charge us extra $$$ . As well both times the vehicle was parked in a way that we couldn't get it out ( blocked in by other uhauls ) and wasted time having to go in and get them to move other vehicles so we could get out

Brock M.Absolutely not. We rented a truck from here. They gas was at 1/8 instead of 1/4 and they charged us when we refilled it to 1/8 EXACTLY where we got it. Also they never did any kind of check, walk over. They gave us the keys and told us it was around the corner and down the street. They told us very directly to park the truck in front of the Building. They were leaving early because of the snow storm, so just leave it there and they would move it in the morning (street parking was available until 7am).It was snowing, and the truck was covered in ice. We couldn't even open it. We went back and they simply told us they aren't unaul, just a dealer, and they dont do any of that kind of stuff and refused any help. It was also so tightly parked in between trucks that it was very difficult to work around. After 30 minutes of getting it open and defrosted we left just as they were closing up around 6pm. The truck had McDonald's wrappers under the seat and was rather messy compared to other times we have rented a uhaul. When we finished, we parked the truck in the EXACT spot they told us to, picked up our vehicle from the front and left. The next day at 10 am the owner called us demanding to know where the truck was. He asked if we stole it. We told him we left it out front, in which he replied that it wasn't there. I asked when they got into the shop, which was answered they just got in. 3 hours past the allowed time to park out front, so we assumed it was towed. He then began yelling at us, and calling over and over again. We told him we parked it where he told us to, and he denied and told us that we were supposed to park in the back (which was locked as we were leaving). We then received a bill for over $400 for charges related to them letting it sit impounded for several days

Rhonda R.The owner at this location was less then helpful when the system went down, basically telling me, and the two other guys in the store waiting to pick-up our trucks reserve online, that he can't help us. The car had a broken driver side door lock that was missing and had to be unlocked from the inside. The dolly in the back was not secured or securable and was rolling around the back smashing around anytime I took a turn. At checkout, the store owner couldn't be bothered to do the walkthrough so I had to use the online checkout process. Basically, the owner of the store where I picked up the truck was completely useless and unprofessional. If I can't/won't head to an actual U-haul location to pickup a truck, I will never use a uhaul again after this experience.

The truck had super low gas when I picked it up, I returned it with more gas than I got it with, and still got charged for gas.

Ines L.They were absolutely rude, they kept denying my reservation even though I had a confirmation number, they sent my driver away and when she tried explaining and asking why we would have a confirmation number if we didn't have a reservation, they told her to get out of their store, then they threatened to call the cops on her... She spent 45mins trying to get the truck then finally left back to work, after about 45min-1hr later she was called and told to go back.... She works in port Coquitlam and had to drive twice from there to west Broadway in Vancouver. She had to deal with the rental with someone on the phone while she was at the store. We returned the truck and checked it over before it was dropped off, yet we were charged a cleaning fee and charges I wasn't suppose to be charged for..... So a 77$ quoted fee ended up being almost 600$ by the end..... I will never ever use Uhaul services again in my life.

IAN R.My order summary told me one place to drop off the U-Haul. When I arrived, I was told the lot is full and to take it elsewhere about 20 minutes away. I was charged for the miles and an extra day to rent the U-Haul to take it to this other place. I complained upon arrival and was reimbursed for the day rate but not for the mileage. This was absolute nonsense and I will not be using U-Haul ever again.

Adrian M.TL;DR at bottom: This location simply isn't a professional neighbourhood U-haul dealer, but is a small meat/grocery shop in a strip mall, and it shows in the entire process. The truck wasn't available for the online truckshare pickup option, I had to go into the store to speak with the owner, which was delayed because the owner wasn't even in his own store during the operating hours/the doors were locked. Almost half an hour after the original pick-up time, the owner is there and we're good to go. The pickup went relatively smoothly except I was not given any contract, only given the keys and bluntly told "Van is in back" -- the van was in the back, in a slanted dirt parking lot extremely difficult to get in and out of. Not being provided a contract seemed very odd since I was charged at the time of pick-up but I assumed it was a hold put on my card. Later during the trip I would need to contact road-side assistance who asked for my contract number, and I was left very confused as I had never received a paper contract or signed anything. The vehicle itself had mechanical issues, which was slightly annoying as I had stated in the pick-up message and contract that it was needed for 1000+ km. The driver's rear tail light and signal light was weak/dying, the car needed an oil change, misc other things. No major drivability issues but it seemed odd that I would be provided a vehicle with various mechanical issues. The drop-off itself was enough to leave a poor review. Upon returning the vehicle I filled out the online return and went inside to hand the keys back to the owner-- he seemed upset that I had done the online return myself, and stated we needed to do a walk-around of the vehicle together and perform the return together--again, confusing as I had already done the return and was only trying to give back the keys. We went outside and performed the walk-around, where he pointed out various misc scuffs and bumps that were already on the vehicle at the time of pick-up and attempted to say that I had caused major damage to the body of the vehicle. He very rudely asked if I had been driving the vehicle or if I had let a friend take it for a joyride, and then wouldn't let me leave as he kept stating he needed to call U-Haul to straighten everything out. After reading online reviews stating he had falsely claimed some trucks/vans needed more gasoline at the time of return and overcharged customers, I have a suspicion that had I allowed the return to not be done by me, there would have been various misc. charges added on. I only have this suspicion due to how rude the owner was during this process-- during this entire process, the owner was rude, spoke shortly, and seemed overall very unprofessional. Too Long; Didn't Read: If you're considering this location, even if it has a guarantee, I would recommend a different one. This owner is unprofessional and rude and provides the U-Haul brand a bad image, and the location simply isn't a neighborhood U-Haul dealer, just a small meat shop that has a couple vans (that don't even seem properly maintained)
Jon L.The guy who was working the meat store who checked me in was very terrible. His store smelled oppressively like insents (and I like those), he answered questions with dismissive single word answers and the worst was the pathway to the truck and the parking lot. He leads us though an abandoned building with jagged piles on wood and metal everywhere and no lights. We had to step over piles of construction. The parking lot itself was not in good condition either, just a dirt alley parking with uneven ground and pot holes. Moving is already stressful and hectic. Picking the truck up from this location was very sketchy and made me feel unsafe.

I couldn't get the self equipment return to work on my phone (which I shouldn't be required to use during business hours but he tried to make me use it) after telling him it wasn't working he rudely shooed me out of his shop and told me he'd get to the return process later. I didn't trust him as he was being so rude so I called Uhaul not long after to make sure the return was processed within the rental time window. The Uhaul agent then tells me that the guy proceeded to charge me for 11 L of gas when I only traveled a total of 12 km and I had put five dollars of gas in the tank before I brought the equipment back. Generally a poor customer service experience.

Our uhaul was delivered at a promised time. we were asked to pick up from a different location after we reached the allocated location and then also there was no truck we were asked to move to the third location to pick up the truck this whole thing added our Evo expenses and 50 min of a drive. we got our Uhaul 1 and a half later than promised which cost me an additional $100 for the movers which I had to reschedule and despite that could not use them for 1 hour from the two hour slot. this was the worst ever moving experience

He is a worm and I would be ashamed to do business with the Arline's Gifts and Things location.
