It was a return to a gas station as it was open. We are older and not use to doing everything through a phone. Did not go over vehicle just was told to take pictures of speedometer and gas gauge, and lock the truck up.. I was suppose to return to a different location but called the main office and they told me I could return to this location as I had to take something to that town. The person questioned me about returning it there as well. I had arranged everything prior to taking it there. Person in the station was nice, but didn't seem too interested in UHaulEve M.

It was a gas station not an actual U Haul Location which I booked online. I had an issue with the drop off location when I booked and the attendant was very helpful and corrected that issue for me however, he used his personnel cell phone to update the reservation which was odd. The truck had the check engine light on and it was not cleaned or sanitized. It also smelled horrible of smoke and there was a lighter and what appeared to be the remnants of a rolled marijuana cigarette in the door handle grip therefore it was obvious the truck was not checked out or cleaned when it was returned.Kelly M.

The check in process with a representative/clerk at Georgetown Shell was extremely slow. Their internet service was down and we had to do the check on is cell phone. It took somewhere between 30-45 minutes to finally complete it on his phone. While assisting me he also handled other customers coming into the gas station which further slowed the process. The reserved truck also did not have the 12 furniture pads in it. The clerk had to gather some from a shed on the property and from another rental truck. He was able to come with 11 and he left them in the parking lot for me to put them in the truck I rented.Stephen T.
Staff was rude. After watching us look for keys they finally said we have to come in. Said we didn't pay-no card on file and kept acting like they needed our card at pick up and drop off- it was there and paid already-we showed them with the app on phone. P/U was changed to location 10 miles away but unwilling to comp extra miles we had to drive it. Rudely said they don't work for Uhaul and they can't do anything. I chose this location because they would be open for pick up (Sunday) and I thought I could get help if I needed. I went in to get help, was told to check in online. I tried to but ended up going back in for help because I was unable to. Apparently, the my reservation was not in the system. So that took a lot of time having the information begrudgingly entered again by man helping me. We both had masks on it was difficult to hear with the refrigeration running in the convenience store. We were also interrupted several times for him to ring up customers. I told the man, several times, "I am sorry, I can't hear you well". He seemed very irritated with me and came across as quite rude! Customer service is really lacking at this location. I could forgive one of these things, but all of them along with the fact that the windshield was dirty and the passenger area of the truck was not even swept out! Uhaul estimated my mileage from New Jersey at 92 miles. I can only imagine this was based on taking the Ferry across the bay as driving back to Delaware is well over 92 miles. I was charged for the additional mileage and the rep at the drop off was less than helpful. I would appreciate a refund for the overage (Google Maps lists the mileage at approximately 150 miles). This location is a mess. The cashier can not handle both the gas station business, store, and uhaul. His refusal to process if the truck was not moved to another location caused an accident on the property. He demanded that a truck be moved into a car parking space instead of the designated spot for the trucks. He refused to help with the processing of the accident. We had to call the cops cause he refused to assist with how to make necessary contacts to report an accident to uhaul. He also claimed that the surveillance cameras were broke and the footage could not be provided. Everyone knows that gas stations have good surveillance. He was rude and there is a definite language barrier. The facility is to small to have a uhaul business. DON'T DO IT YOU WILL REGRET IT LIKE THE OTHER REVIEWS ON HERE ABOUT THIS PLACE. GO TO THE PLACE ACROSS THE STREET or in Millsboro. Better yet go to PENSKE. I will not ever rent from uhaul again. Here are the issues that I was confronted with when trying to rent a truck at this location: 1) Rental agent has a strong Indian accent and was difficult to understand, thereby not being able to effectively communicate the rules and procedures of the rental; 2) While trying to rent a truck, I had to continually stand aside while the rental agent/cashier waited on regular convenience store customers. The entire check-out should have taken about 10 minutes but instead, I had to wait nearly 45 minutes. 3) There weren't any moving supplies nor hand trucks for rent like typical U-Haul locations. The only recommendations that I could make to address the above-mentioned issues would be to hire a native English-speaking rental agent who would a dedicated U-Haul section in the store which would have supplies available for sale and/or rent. There is enough room on this property to build a small, attached U-Haul center, which would be more professional-looking and would in turn attract more customers. I have noticed that other people complained of the same issues, giving this location a less-than-desirable rating. While the current rental agent was pleasant enough, I feel that there is definitely room for improvement. Also, the cost per mile seemed very high. On a more positive note, the truck which I rented was fairly new, clean and easy to drive.karen L.

Car transport trailer is hard to back up precisely in tight gas station rental locations. Recommend a wheel be included on the trailer instead of the skid on the tang. Other than that, it was a good experience. Will use Uhaul again.James C.

The man that came outside handed me a piece of paper telling me to get the mileage and gas amount...he then walked back inside. When I approached him to give him the paper and let him know that the truck seemed to have a transmission problem ( it was not switching gears correctly) he stated â€œ well the guy will Be here at 9:00 am, I don't handle thisâ€ the next day I received an invoice that I had used the truck an extra day ( which I dropped off the same night. ) I talked with U-Haul ( customer service line) and they explained I would not be charged, the drop off location put the wrong date. Personal feeling is, if you are a drop off or pick up location, your customer service should be better.Angela R.

Gentleman helping me was juggling the counter at the gas station an the rentals. Very nice and hard working but very hard to understand and had a hard time understanding anything I was saying. Definitely got drop off location wrong. Uhaul was very helpful resolving the issue the following day. I would recommend it to friends because it does carry a lot of equipment.Arthur C.

In addition to the truck I rented a hand cart, however the instructions didn't say where or how to return that!? I did not want to leave it in the back of the truck as it is not locked. I ended up putting it in the truck cab and locking the door so that it couldn't be stolen. You should clarify instructions on this point, or possibly provide a lock so that the customer could lock the back of the truck upon returning it?Glenn R.
Attendant at location was very rude,I rent trucks from Uhaul at least once a month. It upsets me that even when I reserve at week early I always get bumped from the location I choose. The folks at the location I choose are always extra nice and go out of their way to help me. I will NEVER pick up from the Georgetown Shell ever again. The attendant accused me of shorting him gas. Our overall UHaul rental experience was outstanding for the following reasons: Staff was very helpful in providing information upfront so that we could make the best rental decision; truck was clean and ready to go at pickup; we were provided with all of the blankets we needed to move a large amount of furniture; and UHaul dropoff was convenient and easy. I was sent to this location after I had booked at a neighborhood u-haul. U-Haul bumped me, changed my reservation! Not cool. I had to use an Uber to get to this location which was 30 miles away! I was surprised to hear that my dropoff location was changed to this location. I had trouble finding the drop-off and when I called they couldn't really tell me how to find them. Through trial and error I arrived about five minutes before I would have been late. Only issue with truck is you could not adjust the driver's side mirror. Where set 1/2 the mirror was filled with the side of the truck. I let clerk know of the problem & also the drop off clerk asking that he note for repair.Mark W.

This was not the pick-up location that I requested, but was instead assigned it. This location was approximately half an hour further away than the previous one, and had anybody bothered to contact me about it, I might have been able to arrange to pick up a truck that was on my way to my destination, as opposed to beyond it entirely. I was told that I was not eligible for the $50 compensation as the truck was still at the designated destination when I went to pick it up. Unfortunately, the employee working at the Shell station did not seem to have a clear sense of what needed to be done in order to release the vehicle to me. He attempted to take photograph of my credit card and identification, and when I declined, he called his supervisor, who would only release the vehicle to me after taking my credit card number over the phone. Getting this sorted out took about an additional half an hour on top of the extra time required to get to the location. Overall, I was pleased with the truck and the price, but the staff at the pick-up location weren't equipped to handle the exchange and if my selection of pick-up location is subject to the availability of the truck and might therefore be changed to another location, why bother allowing me to select the pick-up location in the first place? For as close to my destination as the actual pick-up spot was, I might as well have just given you a zip code and said "anywhere within 20 miles is fine".Joseph V.
The staff had no idea what to do when I arrived to pick up the truck. I asked for the keys as I was doing the self check in on your app. The attendant made me wait 10 to 15 minutes while he called the manager to figure out what to do. I had to beg for him to give me the keys so I could report the mileage and fuel level. When he finally got his manager on the phone, I had to explain the process to him.
