It would be ideal if the truck would have been full on pickup, so as to be able to get on the road without having to fill up. The tank was at 1/4 full. This makes it very hard to bring the truck back at the same gas level. It's much easier to bring a rental vehicle back full as we got it vs 1/4 full (as we actually got it). Also, we had been quoted .89 per km, but we were charged .99 per km (1.59 per mile), which adds up over a distance of a few hundred kms (as we did do).

The sales rep was very helpful. The tires on the trailer were however boarder line dangerous. The equipment should be required to meet at least minimum safety standards.

I have used Uhaul twice and Practicar once in the last 2 months. Janet in Creston has been absolutely amazing. She even stayed 45 mins late on a Friday when I was late coming in from Nelson and called ahead. Very stressful move but she made things so much smoother. Good people.

Great customer service shows when unexpected issues are dealt with in a professional way and Janet in Creston did that for sure. The first issue was that the trailer I had reserved was not available at the last minute. Calgary reserved and guaranteed a smaller one on the date required. Unfortunately that trailer was not functional. Lights not working and not properly plated. Janet went above and beyond working with Calgary to get me equipment that allowed me to get the move done on time and with reasonable cost.

Would be nice to know she worked at 2 places because we waited and tried to call no answer and could have left a note where she was. Truck had not been washed and looked discusting on the outside. Stuff left on floor on the inside of cab. Gave us a key and told us the truck was over there with the truck # go find it.

Perhaps, more than one person at the front desk so that when you show up to pick up a vehicle you don't have to wait for phone inquiries to end before being attended to. I must say though that once my paperwork was being explained I took priority to the phone calls. All worked out well.

Car transporter trailer was boxed in by other trailers. There was no staff to move the other trailers to make my rental accessible. So I had to move the trailers myself. Once hooked up to the auto transporter I discovered the trailer lights harness was damaged and had been temporarily repaired incorrectly. As soon as I plugged my truck into the harness my truck park light fuse blew. I had to go and buy new fuses in Creston. I have been trying to get reimbursed for the fuses for 5 days now. When I call customer care I sit on hold for 45minutes then get cut off. Terrible customer service!!

We had to wait 40 minutes to actually get the rental vehicle as the person working in Creston could not figure out how to print the forms. Windshield and windows were dirty, truck very noisy, used excessive gas and engine did not have a lot of power considering we did not have a lot of weight in the vehicle (we only hauled about 1500kgs in a truck with a weight limit of 12,000 kgs).

I had a p/u for Saturday at noon…this location is closed and the call Centre that called me to verify did not pick up on that, so I spent 20min trying to call a call centre to get my trailer.

The truck was not clean and even though I had ordered 20 blankets online and also in person on the friday before my monday pickup there were none available. What is the point of having a reservation system when it means nothing!!! When I visited the pickup location on the friday I specifically asked if I should take the blankets early and was told it was not necessary as I had them reserved and they had lots. Not so on Monday morning. That is unacceptable. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

Cranbrook location is not one to use. Booked us a trailer that was already pre-booked. Then had us delivering it to Bottineau N.D instead of Brandon Mb. Creston more than made up for their errors.

This appears to be a New location...however the UHAUL office is in the laundromat/Drycleaners...so to me, not very professional, even though there is a dedicated separate office for UHAUL next door. Not enough personnel I guess.

The original booking was with your Cranbrook agent, McGibbons Auto and Truck, for a 5 x 8 trailer. I was notified the day before collection that the unit was not available despite having made the reservation about 2 weeks prior to collection. Originally, prior to making my booking, I queried the availability of an open trailer but was told that open trailers were unlikely to be available. When trying to resolve the lack of availability on the 14th, I was advised that trailers were available at the Creston depot. I was also advised that an open trailer was available at Creston and the booking agent (in Calgary?) revised the booking accordingly and emailed the altered contract. That was excellent, except Creston had no knowledge of my open trailer request and no open trailers were available. So back to plan A, an enclosed 5 x 8. Except they wanted to charge me for a one way rental because my plan was to drop off in Cranbrook, as per my original booking. This was resolved to my satisfaction. I have nothing but praise for your Creston agents. However your booking agents, Calgary I believe, need to sharpen up, get a grip and improve.

Good happy people ... No prompt for my overall equipment review. So here it is: As a 50 yr. professional driver the equipment (26 ft. With 11,000 miles on it (ford 350) was nicely powered with an excellent Trany with manual options and reasonable fuel mileage, all good. However; take the “Smooth Ride” sign off as they ride like a tank. Air bag suspension is “time tested and true” or whatever that Ford add sold us on. Come on U Haul; air bag suspension is no longer a maintainance issue. My gravel trucks have it. Your Vancouver c/s office is 105% . I swept and washed the truck before return. If you are willing to pay for repositioning equipment I'm interested. Cheers.

The truck's tires were quite worn which I considered a safety risk at this time of year. Also, it was disappointing to find out that smaller locations/towns will not guarantee that the equipment the customer requires is available at that location at the time needed. U-Haul's expectation is that the customer will drive to the “nearest available location “ to pick up the equipment they need. That takes perhaps up to 3-4 hours for at least two people, plus the expense of gas for the extra person and the U-Haul equipment. Quite an inefficient process!

Overall I was a little disappointed. Not so much with the locations but just U-haul in general. First I set my pick up location to be Blackfalds. Upon getting my confirmation call I was told it would be in Red Deer, which I was not anticipating or planning on and I had to re-adjust my plans and incurred extra costs. It was not very clear to me on the website that this would happen. Second, there was no way on the website to add extra days to the reservation. I spent quite a bit of time on hold and being transferred around to add this extra day. I finally got this done, and my contract showed the days. However upon dropping the truck off, I was told the extra days were not included in the amount I paid. Again there was no clear mention of this anywhere. Third, the truck had tires on it that are not approved for winter driving, and it's actually the law in BC to have winter tires on the truck. Overall these things cause a lot of extra grief and stress. It should be u-hauls goal to make this process as simple and stress free as possible. Moving is stressful enough. This was not needed! At this point I still feel I was charged twice for the extra days as described above and I am not please. I would like someone to contact me at 587-370-1072.

This was an absolute terrible experience. I contracted (and paid for) a one-way rental trailer. I traveled that one way, and on the day before I was to return my rental at my one-way destination, I was called by Cassandra (403-235-1125) and told I had to return my unit back at the origin of rental (I was given another return option farther away). The reason I was given for the issue was that the destination town was full. That is fine, but in trying to work through possible solutions with Cassandra, such as returning the unit early, returning it later in the week, etc, in a very condescending manner, she only gave me this one possible solution, and I quote: “If you know anybody that wants to open a U-Haul dealer in your town, give me their number. Then they can open a dealer and you will have someplace to return your trailer.” I eventually returned the unit to the origin, costing me a day of work and a tank of gas. The contract was amended from one-way to in town lowering my cost by $89, but Cassandra wouldn't even offer that up on her own…she had to be directly pressed on this. This was a terrible customer service experience and I am now in a place where I not only want to avoid U-Haul, I am having a hard time resisting the urge to share my experience with anyone who will listen.
