On Jan 12 we drove by and our boat which was parked there was out of its spot pushed into a nearby storage unit. We were not and still are not sure how it happened. At that point the main gate had been broken and was wide open for some time. When we called the office the next morning to report the finding and investigate, the manager didn’t know it was like this and could not confirm with us WHEN it happened because “they are so short staffed they maybe have time to drive through the location (which is only a half mile away) once a week.” We had seen the boat in the spot 4 days prior so that was the best knowledge anyone had of a timeframe. Their theory was the wind blew it which is possible BUT there were some odd signs we documented via photos with the location and placement of the jack stands and direction it was facing that made is wonder if it could have been intentional. The tvs for the security feed in the main office were also off at the time and we were told it was unfortunate timing and a broken wire so they weren’t even monitoring that way. The lot also had tons of broken rat traps and pieces of plastic all around and just not clean/cared for. We were told the actual security footage of the boat would be pulled so we could figure out if it was wind or people and they would share it with us. This never happened nor were we ever contacted by the office again in the next 1.5 months so we don’t know if there even IS security footage - a major thing we thought we were paying for. The only contact we ever got again was a standard letter to all customers bragging how secure the facility is, how often staff checks it and justifying a rate increase. We were literally just told by the manager those things weren’t happening weeks before. Our boat was fine in the end but the response to the incident and lack of follow up led us to seek a different storage facility. We were paying for gated, monitored and secure storage and we were not getting it. In the office upon closing our account, it appears the security feed has been fixed. The main gate opening/closing has also since been fixed but there are still bent and breached sections of the gate left unfixed and anyone can easily walk in with no code.
