A dirty old gas station. Sadly I had to make a 12 hr round trip to get the truck even though I booked 6 weeks in advance of move. No equipment available in my town that had a large Uhaul presence.

JERREMY KO Man. My U-haul rental adventure can best be described as an acid trip down a rabbit hole. The main problem was dystopian communications with the company and the individual dealers. For example after making the reservation I booked a storage unit. I later learned U-haul offered one month free storage at one of their storage locations. I had a one way long haul rental supposedly reserved from Burnaby BC to Vernon BC, a door to door distance of 435 km.The actual rental turned out to be a trip from Surrey BC to Lake Country BC. It seems long haul rentals are not available at the locations you choose, but where the schedulers dictate. Communication with the individual dealers and U-haul central command is bizarre, time consuming and frustrating. Eventually answers to my questions were found. The people were knowledgeable and friendly if you can understand a thick Punjab accent in Surrey. The 75 year old Sicilian in Lake Country regaled me with his family history and the story behind his brain injury. Getting U-haul central on the phone was a half hour wait followed by a call back each time they were contacted. Sometimes the representative was very helpful. At other times they had no clue. The bright spot was the 15 foot truck was great. It had lots of power even with a full load. Driving it was very comfortable. Loading and unloading was easy. Now Alice, I ask you how is it possible to summarize my experience with a star rating?
ALFRED HMy location was changed from kelowna to lake country, which required me to drive 35 minutes from Kelowna to lake country and another 35 minutes back. They had no vehicle there for me, had to wait over an hour for them to find a solution. The hour wait ended up costing me another $300 out of my pocket for the movers I had hired. Horrible experience overall.
Tarandeep SDid you know that if you are able to book a uhaul it doesn't mean that there will be a uhaul available for you? We booked our uhaul and car transport for pick up in Prince George, BC. 2 days before our move between provinces we were notified that there were going to be no trucks available in all of Northern BC for us to use. Uhaul canada gave us a few options, the only one that worked for us was for my partner to fly (approx 700km) to Kelowna to pick up a truck. There was no resolution for not having a car transport. Thankfully my son was able to drive my partner's car across provinces and we flew him home. Uhaul did give us a larger truck to use and a large discount, but it did not cover the entire extra costs we incurred or compensate us for the extra lost time. It was a lot of added stress at an already stressful time. I was highly disappointed and not entirely satisfied with the outcome. I feel like the company should know what supplies are available and should not rent items they don't have, so that people can plan accordingly.
