I have always rented Trucks or Vans for all my moves. This U-haul is very friendly and their service is extremely professional. I definitely recommend this U-haul location to anyone who is wanting to use a moving company that is truly professional.

Pickup and drop-off were fine. But I had a huge problem with Moving Help. JR Movers didn't show. They called half an hour later to say they were coming. Didn't come. And worst of all, didn't answer the phone for 2.5 hours until I gave up, cancelled the order and hired another mover for the next day through Moving Help. Very bad experience.

When I dropped off the truck @ 1599 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10030, I followed all the self return instructions as per the text sent to me from UHaul. There was no Drop Box, so I went into the Service Station. There was no one there. I asked the gentleman who was pumping gas, he just said "You have to wait for the lady", when I asked what lady he just rudely said "The lady" and walked away. I waited outside for at least 20 minutes and spoke to another gentleman trying to drop off a truck who had the same experience. That gentleman left after some time. Finally I found someone from the garage who also said I needed to wait for the lady. I asked who and where the lady was. She was the lady who worked in the store and she was at the bank. I think this drop off location should be re-evaluated by UHaul. I don't believe this is how you want your customers treated. If this is one of your dropoff locations there should either be an attendant or a dropbox.

The equipment dolly wasn't in the truck, I mentioned this to the attendant and called U-Haul for a refund on that. Not a big issue, very easy to set up and reliable which is great, just would be helpful to have priority parking or something wonderful to help move in the future, to be provided during purchase. Otherwise, great! Thank you.

I ordered 12 pads but I was only given 5 in a closed plastic bag. I didn't know I was supposed to count in store and thought I could trust that U-Haul would provide all 12 in a closed bag. I only notice it when helpers hadn't enough to wrap my furniture. The result is my bed's wood frame now has dents and deep marks from moving.

I was charged $50 as a cleaning fee. I swept out the van and removed all trash. The rubber carpet was dusty and a little mud in the mat tracks. Not worth a $50. And the location would not provide any cleaning implements.

The van had many scratches and hits. When I opened the passenger had a very loud cracking because someone had hit the van side and it was very damaged. At this specific location they tell you that the tank is just over 1/4 of the deposit, however when I get in the van it is already below the 1/4 sign. I drove 12 miles, AC off, normal driving and I when I finished my driving I had to refill the tank with $15.00 (about 2 miles per gallon...) Next time I will ask them to come with me to check the tank when I retrieve the vehicle.

We rented a van online ahead of time, but when we arrived at the location there was no van--or any other vehicle we could take. This is a huge problem that UHaul needs to account for. Luckily, a fantastic employee at the station called a customer to ask if they would delay their rental of a 10' truck so we could do our quick mattress pick up...kudos to this wonderful employee. However, driving a 10' truck and paying the mileage difference for a 10' truck was not what we were signing up for in the first place. At first we were directed to call another location, but they didn't have any trucks at all. More attention needs to be paid to make sure people don't get stranded or stuck paying for and driving larger vehicles because the vehicle they reserved isn't available. An employee mentioned that a customer had failed to return a van...but this is UHaul's problem to figure out, not the customer waiting on a rental. But as far as kindness and the staff goes--they were fantastic. Keep them around and give them raises! They are amazing.

The UHaul on 106 Street made room for us to return the truck so we did not have to drive for an hour in New York traffic to the next closest location. The proprietress was helpful and efficient. Thank goodness it was easier to turn the truck in than it was to rent and drive it.

This place opens from 9 a.m. and the online system allowed me to book at 8 a.m. (practically 24 hours if I recall). The one-hour difference is not much of a big deal, but for your future reference, probably the U-Haul itself should prevent this from happening. The staff there kindly allowed me to use it from 9 a.m. (they opened the store from 8:30 graciously just for me) Also, I wanted to use the closest U-Haul but I could not select that one presumably due to online system errors, which is why I had to go to this place, which turned out to be fine, except for that minor inconvenience that I mentioned above.

I came to pick up my vehicle on time and they said they had it. When I looked at the paper work they gave me it was someone else’s name and address. I told them that there was a mistake and they just crossed out the persons first name (we had the same last name). Then when I got the truck I realized they had not put the equipment (dolly) in the van. This all would have been fine but when I got the bill the next day they over barged me by 17 miles. Bad customer service and a 30 dollar over charge is why I am giving a one star. I emailed the contact person and have yet to hear back.
