The customer service was poor. The employee who was there was not at all interested in helping customers. She seemed annoyed when I walked in, and was unwilling to review the truck with me prior to rental. Prior to my rental, she insisted that I sign the form confirming the condition of the truck, and confirming the fuel level in the truck, prior to allowing me to view the truck and to use the keys to start the engine to check the fuel level.

I had a terrible experience with the staff person who was either completely inept or deceitful or a combination of the two. I had ordered my U-Haul via the mobile app and marked that I would not take the damage protection for $11. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, the staff member charged me for the damage protection and told me she didn’t know how to remove it. I wasted half an hour in the office (which nearly caused me to miss my window for being able to move my items) trying to phone the U-Haul phone number on my receipt. After finally getting through, they told me the receipt would need to be fixed at the office where I was picking up the vehicle, and they transferred the call to the same staff person checking me in, who either didn’t know how to make the change or was just refusing to help. The staff person was additionally deceitful in that during the check in process after I saw I was being charged the extra money, and she told me there was nothing she could do to help, I asked if I should just cancel my reservation because the mobile app had a link that would still allow me to cancel. She told me no it wasn’t possible, and so I didn’t click on the link immediately. A moment later when I decided I should try anyway, it would no longer allow me to do so because As soon as she knew I could cancel via the app, she officially checked me in. So she purposefully was trying to prevent me from getting being able to remove the damage protection that I never ordered in the first place. Now I will need to go call my credit card and dispute the charge and who knows how long this will take. I would never recommend this vendor to anyone. I reiterate this was a terrible experience and a true waste of time. Do not rent a vehicle from 930 Kennedy st NW Washington DC.

Refused drop off by staff at this location, forced to spend 2 hours resolving issue & then was charged a $52.88 cleaning charge which I am despising w/ American Express. This location shod NOT be associated with a reliable company such as U Haul. If you have any questions 336-543-3055

Location has you walk for blocks to pick up a U-haul and then you have to search for parking when you return it, which adds mileage. Also fuel amount on both check in and check out was incorrect and I had to note it and take a picture so that I wouldn't get charged.

This is an urban neighborhood with no parking lot. Trucks are on the street with limited parking. Attendant was rude. Very poor customer experience overall. I was never given a receipt, was told it would emailed.

This was a terrible experience, I was charged double what I should have. They charged a cleaning fee even though I returned it in better condition and refused to take off the optional insurance fee. The receptionist was rude and unhelpful throughout.

This location does not have a parking lot and is in a bit of a high crime area. I did not realize that I had to find street parking until I picked up the van, at which point I could not change my plans. You should let customers know ahead of time that a selected drop off location does not have its own lot or parking spaces.



Lady seemed surprised to see me when I walked in and was not helpful at all. The gas meter on the contract said the tank was 1/4 full but it was maybe 1/8 full. I somehow got signed up for CDW when I would have declined that if asked. Generally the customer service was nonexistent. It's close to my home so I may use it again, but next time I'll just do the mobile pickup if possible.

Requested a closed cab truck, got an open pickup instead as the only thing available. Damage report from the last customer reports damage to the "cap" which I interpret as the cap on the pickup's bed, but there was no cap. So I had to transport my stuff in an open pickup in the rain. The customer should get what was requested.

I would like to speak to a Uhaul representative regarding my billing and it's professionalism, and I have been calling customer service for 20 minutes and no one has answered the phone. If Uhaul does not contact me regarding this issue, I will be forced to report this to the Better Business Bureau.

Eliminate this location. Extremely unprofessional service. Additionay, all trucks are parallel street parked which is not very practical for these vehicles.

I was charged $11 for “CDW.” I was never told about this fee when I made the reservation - even though I asked twice (two different phone calls) what the charges would be. I was not given the opportunity to opt out of this fee or an explanation of the fee.

Was not able to access the truck using the mobile which slowed down our entire moving process. The woman who worked at the place was very slow and even though our rental was for 10am we didn't get in the truck until closer to 11am, but we were given no extra time. We essentially wasted an hour just trying to check in.

Truck was clean and functioned well. But watch out for scams. In my case, Lisbeth, the service person, inspected the truck and claimed it needed to be swept clean. I had used it for 3 hours and loaded it only with furniture that was clean. She said the extra charge would be $25. I asked her if she would sweep it and she offered to sweep it for $10. We settled on a payment of $7, for what was likely to be 2 minutes of effort.

I booked a pickup an hour before the place opened and the person was late opening (arrived at 10:15). The website said I could pickup at 9 am. The customer service representative was rude and hard to understand.

The location is absolutely confusing. It is located on a busy main street in D.C. There is one small sign that is easy to miss and the office itself is located in a basement. There is nowhere to park due to the busyness of the street so I had to circle twice trying to 1. find the place and 2. find a place to pull over. When I called the location to try to inquire where they were located since it was not obvious, the employee just kept telling me the address. I knew the address but clearly, that was not helpful. Then we finally park make it to the location and sit there for 30 minutes for them to park the truck and complete my contract. Again not an issue with the time but the whole time they were typing on the computer, I wondered if there was an issue with the truck or my contract etc. Why not just have some customer service and let me know that the systems are slow and it would just be a few moments. No communication at all. Additionally, I needed to fill the truck up with 3 gallons ( i was just shy of the 1/2 way mark) but we could not find a gas station anywhere near the drop off point. So I had to pay 4/gallon which I expected but instead of just the gallons I was missing, they charged me for the refill to the next level. Which I thought was absurd given how difficult it was to find a gas station near this location and I didn't need as much gas as they charged me for. Overall, my entire experience with Uhaul was terrible and I will not be using it again or recommend it to anyone. Both pick up and drop off locations were in very inconvenient locations with terrible customer service, and unwelcoming atmospheres. It doesn't really feel like uhaul cares about the customer experience at all and your systems are clearly outdated and terrible since this was an issue that caused a 30 min wait on pick up and drop off.

filthy and disgusting blankets from previous Mover in the truck. So gross. We had to walk in sketchy area of town at night to find the truck parked along the street. The Admin staff automatically added insurance coverage when I originally denied it. I have great insurance on my own. Never going back here again



This is the first U-Haul Facility I have worked with who did not give me the option of not getting the insurance. I would have like to have been offered that option. It was not offered. Other than that I am goo with the overall service.

Live with the reservation time quoted to the customer. Do not call the customer within 4 hours after the rental to ask them to return the vehicle because you made a mistake. That is not the customer"s fault!

Worst Uhaul experience I've ever had. Truck was given to me, dirty and without any gas. I returned the truck with more gas than was there when I picked it up. No compensation was offered. Horrible service. Never use the Kennedy Street, NW location.
