I was charged $11 for “CDW.” I was never told about this fee when I made the reservation - even though I asked twice (two different phone calls) what the charges would be. I was not given the opportunity to opt out of this fee or an explanation of the fee.

Was not able to access the truck using the mobile which slowed down our entire moving process. The woman who worked at the place was very slow and even though our rental was for 10am we didn't get in the truck until closer to 11am, but we were given no extra time. We essentially wasted an hour just trying to check in.

Truck was clean and functioned well. But watch out for scams. In my case, Lisbeth, the service person, inspected the truck and claimed it needed to be swept clean. I had used it for 3 hours and loaded it only with furniture that was clean. She said the extra charge would be $25. I asked her if she would sweep it and she offered to sweep it for $10. We settled on a payment of $7, for what was likely to be 2 minutes of effort.

I booked a pickup an hour before the place opened and the person was late opening (arrived at 10:15). The website said I could pickup at 9 am. The customer service representative was rude and hard to understand.

The location is absolutely confusing. It is located on a busy main street in D.C. There is one small sign that is easy to miss and the office itself is located in a basement. There is nowhere to park due to the busyness of the street so I had to circle twice trying to 1. find the place and 2. find a place to pull over. When I called the location to try to inquire where they were located since it was not obvious, the employee just kept telling me the address. I knew the address but clearly, that was not helpful. Then we finally park make it to the location and sit there for 30 minutes for them to park the truck and complete my contract. Again not an issue with the time but the whole time they were typing on the computer, I wondered if there was an issue with the truck or my contract etc. Why not just have some customer service and let me know that the systems are slow and it would just be a few moments. No communication at all. Additionally, I needed to fill the truck up with 3 gallons ( i was just shy of the 1/2 way mark) but we could not find a gas station anywhere near the drop off point. So I had to pay 4/gallon which I expected but instead of just the gallons I was missing, they charged me for the refill to the next level. Which I thought was absurd given how difficult it was to find a gas station near this location and I didn't need as much gas as they charged me for. Overall, my entire experience with Uhaul was terrible and I will not be using it again or recommend it to anyone. Both pick up and drop off locations were in very inconvenient locations with terrible customer service, and unwelcoming atmospheres. It doesn't really feel like uhaul cares about the customer experience at all and your systems are clearly outdated and terrible since this was an issue that caused a 30 min wait on pick up and drop off.

filthy and disgusting blankets from previous Mover in the truck. So gross. We had to walk in sketchy area of town at night to find the truck parked along the street. The Admin staff automatically added insurance coverage when I originally denied it. I have great insurance on my own. Never going back here again



This is the first U-Haul Facility I have worked with who did not give me the option of not getting the insurance. I would have like to have been offered that option. It was not offered. Other than that I am goo with the overall service.

Live with the reservation time quoted to the customer. Do not call the customer within 4 hours after the rental to ask them to return the vehicle because you made a mistake. That is not the customer"s fault!

Worst Uhaul experience I've ever had. Truck was given to me, dirty and without any gas. I returned the truck with more gas than was there when I picked it up. No compensation was offered. Horrible service. Never use the Kennedy Street, NW location.

The vehicle was given to me with under a quarter of a tank. I drove the vehicle only 8 miles, and put $10 worth of gas into it before getting hit with a $16 gas charge upon return. Nobody has addressed my concern after multiple complaints. Very unprofessional.

Where do I begin? Driving from New Orleans, I had a choice to drop off in Northern VA or D.C. and chose D.C. since it was a little bit closer to where I was staying (huge mistake). When I pulled into the Uhaul location on K Street near Union Station, I was told that I needed to call the 1-866# on my contract and that Uhaul would TELL ME (the customer) where I needed to drop off the truck. I was displeased to learn that I had to drive another 25 min north (further away) to 930 Kennedy St NW (with unleaded gas at $3.39/gallon). It was a very sketchy neighborhood with nowhere to park the truck (no vehicle yard). The Uhaul office was in the basement of a non-descript building and difficult to find - very small. Once inside, it took the 2 girls behind the bullet proof glass at least 20 min to process me out and I was the only customer in there. There were posters in the office about how to wire $ to Nigeria (among other places) and it made me wonder if I was about to get scammed since the girls kept asking me questions they should have known as part of my basic contract. Of course, I had to call a ride since I was so far out of the way and Metro didn't run that far north, which cost me even more money. The truck was clean, rode well, and fairly new but the drop off in D.C. was not a good look for Uhaul - turned would could have been good into a bad experience. ;-(



Absolutely horrible!!! I used the van for 2 hours and barely 10 miles. I returned it the same day 6/21 and months later my card is charged $75 for a ticket someone else got on 6/22 at 9:55am. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE VAN AT THAT TIME! I'll be reporting you to my bank!

Be careful whem renting from them. They will not give you the contract so you can't see that actual gas and mileage are not the same on it.



While the location is relatively new, there was a total lack of preparedness by the manager, and the assistant was inexplicably rude - in a telephone call before arriving, and when taking a message after there was a problem on the invoice, after which I never received a call back from the manager. Fortunately, Mr. Dominique Brown, the regional manager, promptly contacted me, and took care of the issue immediately.

I don't think I have ever received such poor, rude and incompetent service from any business I've dealt with. Other people in the office at the same time as me were equally angry and dissatisfied. I booked my rental vehicle - a 10 foot truck - for 2 days almost 2 weeks before the pick up date. When I arrived 5 minutes after my scheduled pickup time, I stood at the desk for around 7 minutes before my presence was even acknowledged. I was then told that my vehicle had been picked up by someone else earlier that day. I was then told my vehicle was not available and I could have a 9' van instead. This would not have satisfied my needs. As I was busy finishing up packing at home I left my husband to sort things out. He arrived home around 90 minutes later with a 9' truck with a broken window and no documentation at all because this entity does not print out documentation and will only "email it later". On checking the email I saw that the paperwork said the van was rented out to us for only 4 hours. I called head office to complain and insisted they call Value Financial Services. It turned out that a 15' truck had been parked outside Value Financial Services all day for us because a 10' truck was not available. We then returned the van to the office to switch vehicles. On arrival we discovered that the office was negotiating a rental of our truck with someone else because the 10' truck they had rented was "not available". We insisted on taking the truck. An hour later, after waiting for the paperwork to be redone, we left with out truck. At that point we were well over 5 hours behind our scheduled truck-packing-and-move time. Every interaction we had with this office was rude, dismissive, disdainful, painfully slow etc. I would NEVER do service with this office again and would certain highly recommend to others that they HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CONTACT WITH THIS OFFICE.

There was no personal there and it was not obvious where we should leave the vehicle. The drop box for the key was behind a locked fence. We had to jump the fence in order to return the key. I would have preferred a different drop off location.

They did not have the truck that I reserved (they said that they never had that truck), it took 45 minutes to get a replacement option, which then caused me to be late to my appointment. This caused me to return the truck after the location was closed, and the next morning they recorded the gas levels incorrectly, so now I have to dispute my bill. This was a very, very frustrating experience with Uhual.

The van was broken and dirty and they made me drive extra mileage out of my way to pick up reserved furniture dollies that they couldn't produce. A waste of time. They also charged me $54 for a gallon of gas. I've filed a complaint already.

I experienced horrible service with U-haul. First, in order to obtain the vehicle I was required to submit my information as well as 3 family members/friends information, which took over an hour as the location had just received a new "machine" which they had never used before and stated that they had never required such information before. We were jerked around while we waited and every 15 minutes or so they would ask for an additional person's information. It was clear to me that the manager of the location was doing his best as we were both on the phone with U-haul "customer service" receiving no valuable help. Once we finally got the okay, the employee pointed us in the direction of the car and handed off the keys with no inspection of the vehicle, we immediately found that the driver's side window was broken, would not roll up past half way, and the rear was filthy. However, we were already running late for our move-in appointment and were very frustrated, so we did not report this immediately. Lastly, I received my bill today and was charged for moving supplies which I never ordered or received. I doubt I will ever use U-haul again despite the alluring pricing, not worth the headache.

We arrived at 4:30 and did not leave with our rental until 5:15 pm, even though there was no line. All because U-Haul had not communicated the new payment procedures with the agent (i.e. payment at the end of the rental) so we sat there for 30 min wondering why my credit card wasn't running through when all along we could have collected the equipment earlier had we known the card on file would be charged later.

The woman was slow and disorganized. She was distracted the entire time on phone calls with other people. It took almost an hour to rent the UHaul. Also, during the rental experience she locked herself out of the office. I helped her re-enter the room and avoid calling a locksmith (which can be very expensive and time consuming) and she barely even thanked me.
