1. Truck was provided in a poor technical condition (inefficient braking on the loaded truck, steering is flawed and leans car sideways, unstable engine performance, rear doors handle can't be closed properly without a significant amount of force, door rolling mechanism is flawed and requires serious force to open/close it. 2. Truck hasn't seen any cleaning for a long time. It wasn't dirty because of the previous users, but because too many people used it and nobody cleaned it over time 3. Pick up location neither provides any padlock which can fit rear door brackets, nor sell/rent them. 4. Pick up location doesn't have a proper parking area nearby. The parking lot, which is nearby, is mainly reserved by surrounding business or can't be paid unless App download and an account create - I wasted 20 minutes trying to download and set up an account, and after that, those apps didn't work properly so that I couldn't pay for the parking. 5. Dropping the truck off after hours experience is a challenge since there is no designated parking area, nor free public parking spots. Pay parking is inconvenient as requires mobile App installation and account creation. Since the pick up location didn't provide me with the lock, nor could rent/sell one to me, I had to leave the truck's tail door unsecured, and the rental dolly and moving pads had to be left inside the cargo area.Pavel S.

Got the 26 feet truck from a storage house in Surrey. It was very dirty. I had to clean it myself. The lady said I can return it to U-haul in Port Moody. At night when I returned it to Port Moody, a lady there said I must return it back to the storage house in Surrey or I will be charged twice the amount. When I went back to Surrey, they were closed for the day. A very unpleasant experience.AMIR A.

We reserved a dolly but there were none available at this location, which we didn't discover until picking up the truck. There were also no boxes for sale of any size even though they were advertised. This meant we had to drive to another store, wasting our moving time and paying for extra mileage and gas.Kristen S.

clearly no cleaning (or cold cleaning done). potato chips all over drives side floor and a dirty sock on the passenger floor and just generally dusty. typically I wouldn't care (as this is the usual state of Uhaul rentals) but with covid.... the on line booking drives me crazy - I pick the location, dates, size etc and it offers me what I want so I book it only to be called and told "nope, not available there, how about a completely different city for pick up??" The truck was locked and the passcode provided didn't work. When I called U-Haul, they told me to go inside the pickup location. When I went inside they told me to call U-Haul. This entire process was a massive hassle and caused extreme delays on my moving day. I rented the truck for 24 hours but the customer service person told me to bring the truck back within 8 hours. Despite this, 4 hours before my truck was due back at the reduced time, the office staff called me to bring the truck back an hour earlier because they wanted to close early. All in all it was a terrible experience. Massive delays and hassle created on an already busy moving day. Would not recommend.James M.

There were 5 empty water bottles on the floor, food wrappers and a newspaper that I had to dispose of myself when I first got in the truck. There was so much condensation inside the windshield I could not see out of it and had to use my tshirt to mop it. It wAs clear that staff had not been inside this vehicle to prep it before renting it to me. Disappointing.Sally A.

By far the worst experience I have ever had with u haul (and I have had a couple) i flew from calgary to vancouver, took a taxi to my u haul mobile pick up location only to find out that the truck was locked in the compound and I couldn't gain access to it. Because of this mistake I had to spend money out of my own pocket on a hotel for the night and a taxi ride to the hotel. When I returned in the morning (yet another taxi ride and more money out of my pocket) the keys were not in the u haul and the lady at the front desk informed me they forgot to park the truck outside the gated lot and leave the keys for me. Once finally getting the keys and truck the smell of industrial grade cleaner was overwhelming and made me sick this forcing me to drive from surrey to calgary with the windows down the whole way while it was snowing. Needless to say this is the worst experience I have ever had and a simple mistake by a u haul employee has cost me several hundreds of dollars and out of my own pocket with absolutely no compensation or discountTrevor S.

My fiance and I have used U-Haul to move before. On that occasion, the time and pickup of our truck was changed substantially. Since we were moving from Richmond to Coquitlam, I decided not to stress about it even though it meant the difference in having help to move and not having help at all. We put that experience behind us and opted to use your company again to relocate from Coquitlam to Nanaimo. I could not have imagined a worse experience. On August 9, 2018, my fiance ordered a 20 foot truck for 7 am pick up at the Barnet Highway location in Coquitlam for Saturday, September 15. We were told this was confirmed and everything was good to go. On Thursday, September 13, my fiance received a notification that he could confirm everything again. When he did so, he was informed that the truck would be available at 4 pm on Saturday. It was supposed to be ready at 7 am so he assumed there had been an error and called to let you know. He was told that no, it wouldn't be ready until 4 pm and that there was no error - they simply changed the time. My fiance was coming over Friday night (as we were already moved to the Island minus our belongings), picking up the truck and packing everything up to make a 1 pm ferry reservation. Your employee made a snarky remark about how he would have to change ferry times. At no point did anyone notify us of the change - we only found out because he went to check in through your online system and inquired about the time being wrong. He was then put through to the scheduling department at which points he was told there may be a 20 foot truck available at another location that may or may not be in the Lower Mainland and a time could not be guaranteed. He called back on Friday morning and was told he could pick up a 20 foot truck in Surrey but not until 8:30 am. We tried to remain positive, thankful something had worked out. My fiance and his father went to the Surrey location to get truck and found it was only a 17 foot truck instead of the 20 foot truck we had booked. Again, we tried to make the best of it but unfortunately, could not fit all of our belongings into the truck and were forced to leave items behind. At the end of it all, we were forced to pay the same price and were not offered an apology or any compensation or discount for a smaller truck. That is, we were charged for a 20 foot truck despite only receiving a 17 foot truck that forced us to leave belongings behind. We gave U-Haul the benefit of the doubt after a bad experience with our first move. The experience this time around is absolutely inexcusable. I have never received such horrible customer service and the fact that no compensation was made and we were forced to pay for a truck we did not even get leaves me completely appalled. My fiance works in the service industry - we know shit happens but you put the customer first and you do your best to give them a positive experience. Absolutely nothing was done for us. MovTREVOR S.
