I had originally order a truck to Stafford Springs, CT but was called and told I would need to pick the truck up in Ashford, CT (12mile difference). The man working there had no idea what he was doing. He kept telling me he didn't even want to work with Uhaul any more. At one point he needed to call to check something with Uhaul and just sat there so I had to make the call. He didn't tell us any details or about the gas charge. Extremely poor service.Shawn D.

It's the overall UHaul experience I would not recommend to a friend. Wait time on the phone is about 20 minutes. You are not told in advance that you have to use your cell phone to complete drop-off which includes submitting multiple pictures of the vehicle and where you parked it. If you opt to use a customer service rep they charge you an extra $20. On your bill you will find a number of non-option add-ons like environmental fee and recovery fee. The truck was supposed to have a 1/2 tank of gas on pick-up which it didn't so I ended buying more gas than I should have to return with 1/2 a tank or pay $40 plus $4 dollars a gallon penalty. The "Rent me for $19.99 a day" is also very misleading as the real expense is the mileage. An average in town 6 hr rental is $100. The biggest stress factor is when you reserve a truck at a specific location there is no guarantee it will be there. You may have to drive 20 miles to another UHaul at your own mileage expense both picking up and returning. So yes there are many things UHaul could be doing to improve things for their customers the basics being honesty, delivering as promised and the very least a cell phone should not replace customer service.LOUIS C.

you should make it so that users of the app have to complete their profile prior to being allowed to rent a truck using the app. I would have completed the entire process from my office, not standing in the cold parking lot trying to get access to the key box. And the new rule about 5/8ths full is such a fucking scam! just trying to squeeze every cent you can out of your customers by getting extra gas in the tanks.james H.

They over charged me and I called about it and then they over charged me way more and then I called back and they said they'd call me back in a few and I never heard from them againnichole H.
We arrived for pick up before the office was open. We planned on using the mobile pick up option. The truck we were scheduled to use was boxed in by other rental trucks and we were unable to get to it. Furthermore, the office had never put the rental keys in the early pick up lock box. We had to call the â€œon callâ€ person. We had to wait for the office staff to meet us. He was smoking a cigarette while getting our rental truck. He quickly left and did not make sure we were all set with the rental. This whole experience could have gone so much more smoothly if their staff had made sure all the plans were in place when they closed the night before. We also requested a dolly, which we were charged for and they did not include. We were not satisfied with the process. The truck rental was fine and clean enough.Karoline K.
The shop was closed when I arrived at my guaranteed time. I had to call three different people to sort out someone opening the shop to get me my truck. The man did not go through anything with me. Just had me sign and grumpily handed me the keys. I would not recommend.Julia R.

Cost was higher than I anticipated. Advertising on side of truck was misleading. I.e. in town vs Dailey rate.bill F.
This location was not the location that our u-haul pick up was confirmed for. We had to drive an addition hour to pick up the truck. It was extremely inconvenient. When I questioned Worcester U-Haul why we had to drive from central MA to CT when we had a Worcester pick up confrimed, we were told "take it or leave it". That was disrespectful and poor customer service.Joseph D.

Wow, the regional dispatchers in the Plainville Scheduling Office have been exceptional in helping with this rental. They were so very helpful in finding a truck to move my son from one location in Boston to another in Boston on a weekend when we could not find a truck in the greater Boston area and were told by the Boston area dispatch that there were no trucks available. Even with a number of location changes in the locations in Connecticut, where we live, the regional dispatcher office staff were incredibly help and so pleasant. I know I spoke to Emily and Cindy and I am sorry I did not get all the names. The truck was outstanding, new clean and well equipped. I was a little unsure how to handle the tolls in MA so I grabbed my transponder out of my vehicle. Hope that works. Well done UHaul! My experience was unsatisfactory. My original rental was out of Ellington , CT @10:30a on 8/1. When I arrived there was no truck for me bc the previous rental kept it longer and it was not updated in system. I was sent to another location Ashford CT 20 mins away and the reservation had not been transferred so a new reservation had to be made. I had a truck but had to return it much sooner. I was assured that I will not be charged for a one way drop off but then I was. I was supposed to be charged only $109 but was charged $199 which was ridiculous! When I drop-off I had to wait 30 mins for office to open. Overall my experience was terrible so Im asking for the following Reimbursement/credit for $50 guarantee for truck not being available as promised I want the mileage and charge per mile be reduced as well. Im also calling Uhaul as well to voice my dissatisfaction with the service.Vivian R.

Employee was not there for our 9am reservation and arrived 30 minutes late. He was also very rude. I recommend customer service training for this site or a new employee. When he finally answered his phone he was clearly asleep.Kathleen W.

It took an hour or more just for me to pick up my equipment because the guy couldn't open my reservation. This was the first time I have used uhaul, so I had no idea what paperwork I was supposed to be given. I ended up leaving with the trailer and no rental contract because the guy said it was fine. Two hours later I got an email from uhaul saying I hadn't picked up my equipment yet (which I had.) I then didn't get a rental contract until 3 days later.lacey H.

I was overcharged $66.35 and am disputing the VISA charge. The subcharge for extra miles ($74.32) is valid. The remaining charges ($66.35) relate to an extra day's rental, which I did not authorize or use. The truck was due to be returned to the U-Haul agent in Ashford Ct. by 8:00 am on March 30. I returned it at 7:45. The gentleman in the office told me to just drop the key in the U-Haul drop box, which I did. He told me I didn't need to do anything else. I left the office. At 8: 41 am I got a call from U-Haul's Connecticut Operations Center (203.795.1371) reminding me the truck was due back that day. I told the caller I had already returned it. For whatever reason the Uhaul facility in Ashford didn't record the return until 10:02 am, then tagged me for an additional day's rental, plus related charges. I am not going to pay it. Your survey does not even ask if the equipment rented functioned correctly ???? No one was there except a security guard. He told me to put the keys and rental agreement in a night box. After I put the key in to the night box, he then wanted the truck moved.Kenneth B.

The sign-in and reservation process is ridiculous. Took over 20 minutes to enter information - more than is needed for a mortgage! Secondary drivers license information??? Are you kidding me? You need to make the whole process simpler.LAWRENCE S.
Central needs to be ready. I understand the proprietor was out late the night before (he's a wrecker and he had to deal with a bad accident) but there was no one to be found when I arrived, printer wasn't set up, he couldn't figure out how to use the system, etc. The whole transaction took over an hour.Pete B.

You practice deceptive advertising - The truck says $19.95 per day but the mileage is not included, making the actual cost for me nearly 10 times that listed. Of course, I knew this in advance. I think this is deceptive and unfortunate for others, and should not be a standard practice of a quality company.CARL K.
