Testimonials from recent customers of Wheeler Auto Supply
Be prepared for extra trailer returns in a University town so the customer does not have to drive an extra 30 miles round trip to drop one off.
Was told the dolly was included at no charge and didn't ask for furniture pads or use them and was charged. Was told they were complimentary
Overall it was a great experience.
Truck needed maintenance
The lady went out of her way to help me return the boxes that were not used!
Very helpful. he dealt with some errors that the telephone rep messed up in a timely manner.
Who I booked with was not clear in communicating the difference in fees when utilizing the drop off location. I was under the impression it was $40 but found out it was $100. The communication was subpar and frustrating
I was supposed to pick up the key on Sunday morning but it was not in the truck meaning I had to postpone my move a whole day until someone was able to retrieve the key for me. This was a huge inconvenience for me because I had a lot of help for Sunday but no one was able to help Monday.
The owner of the shop that rented me the uhaul is a scam artist. Never let them copy and paste your signature to a contract you can't see. Uhaul is beyond the worst company I have ever done business with.
I do not like how the gas situation goes...I know that I put in more than was necessary when I returned the vehicle
This location was absolutely perfect for my purposes on this rental. It was much closer to my loading location than what I have experienced in the past, which saved at least an hour of driving compared to picking up in Des Moines. If this location could be expanded for Uhaul service, I think it would help serve the Iowa State University customers as a supplement to the location in Ames.
The customer service was really good at the pickup location. The staff was friendly and helpful.
No problems
WE HAD AN ARRANGEMENT SINCE AUGUST 3RD FOR PICK UP AT 4:00 ON FRIDAY AUGUST 10TH IN IOWA FALLS. IOWA FALLS IS 20 MINUTES FROM OUR HOUSE. A FEW DAYS BEFORE THIS PICK UP WE DID CHANGE THE TIME OF PICK UP TO 10:00 ON THAT SAME DATE. WE THEN RECEIVED NOTICE FROM YOU THAT THE TRUCK WAS ONLY AVAILABLE IN STORY CITY, (55 MINUTES AWAY. IT TOOK TWO PEOPE OF COURSE, SO BASICALLY LOST FOUR HOURS RATHER THEN LESS THEN ONE HOUR BETWEEN THE TWO PEOPLE. IF IT WAS A MATTER OF HAVING TO STAY AT THE THE ORIGINAL TIME SLOT, WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS! BUT I DON'T BELIEVE THIS WAS THE CASE SINCE OUR SON WAS IN IOWA FALLS WHILE WE WENT TO GET THE TRUCK IN STORY CITY AND THERE WAS THE TRUCK WE REQUESTED IN THE IOWA FALLS PARKING LOT. THIS IS SOME KIND OF HANKY PANKY GOING ON HERE, AND THE $50.00 FOR THE HASSLE DOES NOT COVER THE HASSLE. WE ALL WILL CONTINUE TO TELL ANYONE WHO SAYS THEY WILL BE USING U-HAUL OUR EXPERIENCE FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES I CAN TELL YOU!
The Story City, IA location was beyond helpful, however the reservation was made for Ames, IA. At no point in time was I informed I was going to have to drive out of town to pick up the trailer. The staff at the Ames location were rude and unhelpful. Overall Ames was very unprofessional. It would be unlikely our business uses this location ever again.
N/A
First, my pick up location changed from one location to another. Our original truck was given away to another Uhaul customer. It took about 45 minutes in total to straighten everything out. A store employee offered to waive the hand truck rental fee for my troubles. I was charged for it anyway. When I finally got the truck to the loading location, I realized I didn't get the hand truck to begin with (it was probably in the truck they gave to the other customer). I ended up going to another Uhaul location to get it, which took another 30 minutes or so because there was so much confusion. These sorts of things make an already frustrating out of state move even more stressful.
The only issue we had with the uhaul was the windshield wipers. They need to be replaced.
I had reserved the truck for pick up in Ames so was disappointed that we had to go to Story City, 10+ miles away, to get the truck.
Friendly and professional!
Great service!!!
No comments for improvement. The dealers were very professional and courteous. Thank you!
Return of the trailer was quick and easy. Staff was great to work with.
Nothing. They are really customer focused at this location. Very friendly and helpful!!
Same problem as the location for pickup....just be straight with your customers that you will NEVER get the location you requested online. We used this trailer to drive our son to Iowa State in Ames, IA. We fully intended to unpack the trailer, return it IN AMES, and then run errands to get him settled. Instead, we had to drive around a packed campus town all day long with a trailer. Finding parking spots was a big pain. We couldn't get rid of the trailer until well after dark because the location was 30 minutes from campus.
Dropped after hours. I didn't have contact with the location.

Friendly and efficient
Signals were not working. The provider never check the signals.
Easy and quick access plus plenty of room to unload vehicle
Since I had placed my order so far in advance I was disappointed to learn that I would have to drive to Story City to pick up the equipment instead of being able to pick up in Ames as I had requested. This new location was out of my way from my move-out location. It added extra driving time and inconvenience.
Wonderful experience! Sales person helped us hook up and was very courteous! Would definitely rent from again.
The people at Wheeler Auto Supply were extremely helpful and went out of their way to accommodate me when I had difficulty picking up the vehicle.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Imagine my surprise when I arrange to drop my trailer off in Ames when finished with 3 Dorm furniture loads, and, Mckenzie from U-Hail tells me I have to drive 10 miles away to drop off the trailer. It was actually 15 miles away. Plus, I needed to take a detour through dirt roads (5 miles). Shouldn't U-Haul know road conditions before sending people to a drop-off out-of-town? The U-Haul site was closed anyway; so, I left the trailer in the lot. Couldn't I have done the same thing in Ames? I am not likely to ever use U-Haul. again.
Personnel seemed passive to helping/looking out for questions.
Took care of me in a timely manner.
