My storage unit was not very clean. The rolling staircase was hard to use (wheels would get stuck). I was there between 7 and 10pm and the bathroom was locked which was really inconvenient. There was random garbage in the lobby. Overall I'm very happy because everything was really simple and accessible through the app. Very convenient overall.
Josue H | Overall ExperienceI repeatedly asked to be notified if for some reason autopay stopped working on my account which would result in accruing a balance plus their late fees. It happened multiple times and I asked multiple times. This last time I was in the hospital for 3 months and they kept calling for a balance of $300 on a $60/month storage unit. They wouldn’t let me in my unit. They gave me two options 1. Settle half and move everything immediately or 2. Pay in full. I repeatedly explained I’m in advanced heart failure and on oxygen. Had I known it wasn’t being paid each month I would have fixed it so the balance didn’t get out of hand. I’m on SSI I cannot drop $300 at once nor can I move all my belongings considering how sick I am and there’s nowhere for them to go, it’s why they’re in storage. When id explain this to them they wouldn’t answer me or would give me the same line about my two options. They even had the nerve to get irritated with me. They put me in an impossible position after a year of paying for this unit I had to let it go to auction. They received over $400 for it and gave me $17 credit. The math doesn’t quite add up for me on that they just make a good percentage fee on the auction. I think it’s pretty unfortunate they wouldn’t work with me at all given how sick I am. I was in the hospital not receiving emails or texts like normal so I had no idea there was this balance accruing. even if they’re a large corporation there’s still room to have some decency and understanding for customers’ situations when called for especially because it’s managed by locals and not some national call center. Now the few items I had left after a sudden move due to unsafe living conditions (drug cook in apartment above me making me sick) are gone and I don’t have anything left to call mine. I’m staying with a friend until I find a new place. Holyoke uhaul instead of being a reliable help in this mess just added salt to the wound.
