JULIA D | First ImpressionsI have managed much of my own storage experience from the beginning via the uhaul mobile app. However, there was a hiccup with how things ended for my time with uhaul storage and the GM Tom Serson was high strung, confrontational, and indifferent. He accused me of telling him he didn't deserve a day off or a vacation when I never said anything about his time off. I called him when I needed urgent help and he explained that his on-call employee was belligerently drunk at 7:30pm on Sunday; so, no one would be able to help me. No apologies, no sympathy, just indifference and hostility. I locked my car in the storage unit building after hours by accident, although I was told verbally upon renting the unit, almost 6months ago, there is no signage for the garage hours of operation into the units, and I urgently called Tom - 3 times - for help when I realized my car was locked in the building. I notified a friend and she was so concerned that she called Portland's non-emergency line to help me. All the while, once I reached Tom over the phone, he offered no apologies, told me that no employee would arrive at the facility until it opened the following day, and argued with me. I brought up his indifference in a rude manner myself, in retort to his accusations and otherwise indifferent attitude. All I received were excuses and accusations instead of any semblance of representation for the company after hours. May I suggest an hours of operation sign for the garage doors, posted inside the facility? That way no one else locks their car inside like I did, maybe even a nightly check to make sure no one is locked inside the units? As for Tom, although I understand there wasn't much he could do, I would recommend anyone away from this location because he offered no help and talked to me with hostility and indifference. Without posting a sign for when the garage door powers off, I would not recommend putting Tom Serson's name and number on the building. He will only be off-putting, rude, and hostile to a customer in need.

The only thing I could complain abut was that the restroom on the first level was out of order two separate times over the nearly 3 months that I had the storage unit. Otherwise, I was very pleased with the service and the storage unit that was offered was the most convenient unit because it was located right next to the roll up door and I was happy about that as I had to move a good friends belongings by myself -so anything that made it easier was a great thing!
