Nowhere in the checkout experience on UHaul.com or on-site at the location was it noted this location is 100% self-service via the U-Haul app. There was a QR code posted on the front door of the business which, when scanned, would help you download the app, but nowhere did it say this was the ONLY way to reserve and pick up equipment. Days before my scheduled pickup date I was able to make an 8 am reservation on Uhaul.com, but when I showed up to LUX Event Rentals I found the business didn't open until 9 am. I called LUX and left a message. In their voicemail greeting they provide a different phone number to text with questions...which I did, and did not hear back from anyone until after 9 am. I wasted an hour of my day waiting for LUX to reply to me, when a simple sign on the front door of the business explaining the self-service nature of their U-Haul rentals would have been sufficient. I have rented U-Hauls many times, but never knew a self-serve option existed so had no experience with it. It's like LUX assumes everyone knows it's self-serve and has experience with that type of reservation and pickup option. Finally, because you must download the U-Haul app, you must also enable location tracking on your phone so they always know where their truck is (which makes sense), but don't forget to disable location tracking and uninstall the app when you're done!

Pick up location was not where I reserved it. When I called the location they told me to pick it up at they did not have a truck ready. It took hours on the phone with customer service to get the truck I reserved and costs me hundreds of dollars while the movers waited on the truck
THOMAS MWhen picking up my vehicle, after I got the key, the app would not let me upload pictures of the vehicle and would not let me continue without pictures. It was very frustratrsting and a phone call to the help line didn’t have an option for”having problems with the pickup” and was more than 5 minutes delayed do I hung up. I drove home in the vehicle and called again.
CHARLES HDeposit required? Only $100 but I have never been asked before.
Greg LThe person who helped me seemed a little annoyed that I couldn’t check in and get me key to the truck in the app. He did help me but it seemed like he was a little uncertain of the process.
