I was charged a 25 dollar cleaning fee - the truck was returned clean with no garbage in it. Only the pads were in there but we returned after hours so there was no where else to leave them. Also charged 30 dollars for not filling the tank all the way, we were not aware that there would be a fee on top of the payment for the gas. This accumulates to a lot of charges total for minor and unmentioned things.

The truck I rented was not ready on time. I specifically used the app to pick up the truck to avoid waiting for the office to open, but I had to wait for the office to open, then had to wait in line to be helped, and then had wait for them to get the blankets I ordered. I actually got my truck 30 minutes after my start time. Then, I discovered that the back of the truck had about 12 soaking wet blankets from a previous rental. I had to deal with those blankets. When I complained about the issue, the manager was unhelpful. I would drive 10 miles out of my way in Chicago traffic to avoid picking up a truck from this location in the future.

DO NOT EVER RENT FROM THIS FACILITY!! Some of the WORST customer service I've ever experienced and I wish I would have looked at these reviews before renting from here!! I showed up for my truck about five minutes before 8:00am (opening) and no one was around. There are no signs for anything - including where to park or stand in line to wait. I was expecting there to be people ready (like myself) but nothing. After driving around the building a couple times I saw a U-Haul truck pulling in and parking so I drove over to ask where to go. The employee (who must have used the truck for personal use to get to work) yelled back to me "WE'RE NOT OPEN YET!" and kept walking to the front entrance ... at 7:59am. Thanks for answering the question and being completely normal and stable. I then parked my car where there looked to be a row of others and walked over to the front (shack/shed) where he had shut the door and sat down with the window closed inside by himself. I proceeded to (out loud) ask him what's going on, it's now after 8:00am, and my movers are waiting for me and he sat there facing me but looking down at his computer screen and didn't say a word - REAL AWKWARD - and would not look up after knocking on the window two feet away and asking him if he's going to help at any point. By this time others had seen this and were waiting in line behind me asking the same thing and he was not responding - clearly on his own time and not caring about any of us. At 8:10am he opened the window, asked for my registration number, doesn't say a word while he's typing, gets up to walk me over to my truck, hands me the keys, and tells me my car will get towed if I kept it parked where it was. I asked him where I should park and he kept walking back towards the front entrance and yelled back "I DON'T CARE BUT NOT HERE!" Again, thanks for answering the question and being completely normal and stable. I'm not a regular truck renter but in my past experiences I've also been provided some common/basic reminders that go with the processes and procedures of renting a truck - like gas refills? when I should be bringing it back? or maybe even offered a walk-through of the rental truck's (existing damage?) condition? ... nothing. In dropping the truck off after the move there was a line of ten people waiting AGAIN and I can only imagine what the reasons for the backups were ... but I did luckily catch the same guy walking out of the shack to a truck with another customer (like I was doing a few hours earlier) he asked for my keys and just kept walking away. By then, I was just done with the whole experience and wanted to get out of there. I don't know if they can back-charge me for anything but I will definitely be checking my upcoming cc statements and making sure they don't. Based off the other comments and reviews here, this practice seems to be a common occurrence and I could see how they'd get away with it too - nothing is in

Gentleman who checked me in was extremely rude. He seemed frustrated when I wanted to check for damage and when I corrected him on the gas level. I wanted an updated contract but he just scribbled something on the contract instead. The guy who checked in/out the trucks was super nice and accommodating. Truck was however filthy, and I brought it back much cleaner than I took it knowing that guy would probably try and charge me a cleaning fee. They have this huge lot but charge you $8 to leave your car there.

Engine maintenance light was on when we got the truck. Back of truck was filthy. The guy marked 7/8 gas tank full with a pen on the contract even though we have a time stamped picture that showed we picked up at 3/4 full. He was rude when we picked up and couldn't be bothered to get our of his booth when we when we dropped off the truck. Didn't want to do inspection until after I left because he was obviously hoping to add charges once I left. Told me none of this was his problem because he got a paycheck no matter what the condition of the truck.

I was given the keys to different vehicle to the one on the bill which was half filled with gas. I filled up more than 20 dollars worth of gas even though we drove for 7 miles at the most. Not very happy with this experience.

Worst moving experience I’ve ever had. Last minute location change cost me 100 dollars in labor fees for my movers.

Uhaul connected us with movers at Windy City Moving Company Aaron and Dante were awesome! Aaron coordinated the move and made it so much less stressful than moving can be. They were polite, professional, efficient, organized, self-directed, and hard working. They surprised us with how much they could carry and how reliable they were. Totally Recommend them for anyone moving and would use their services again at Windy City movers.

The people were not very kind and I got overcharged for gas. I Said something about it and they said there was nothing they could do. Which isn’t right. So I tried emailing U-Haul and have heard nothing back.

I originally signed up for a different location however I was notified 30 minutes beforehand that my location had switched. We got to the new location and were given a truck however the bed of the truck had about 2 inches of standing water in it so I asked to switch vehicles. The new truck still had water in it but not as much. The cab had animal hair and a good amount of dirt on the ground. On the positive side the truck was new and easy to drive. Upon returning (before the time we had originally put to return it) the location was already closed so we had to park the car ourselves and put keys into the box (without any directions as to which box). There were also two men walking around the truck parking area. Overall, it was a less than ideal interaction and unfortunately, next time I will be looking for another option for my moving needs.

I booked a truck for 8.30, but it was changed to 11.30 without any notice. And when I arrived there, there was no truck for me. The worker just said that I should call customer service. Terrible services. Finally I couldn’t get 20’ truck. I got a 15’ truck and my moving was horrible thanks to u-haul’s effort.

This was the 2nd time I rented a moving van from the Chicago River North location. They are always curtious, professional & let you know what they have available. They also take care of getting you registered, explaining process for use & return of vehicle & into vehicle quickly so you can get to where you need to be asap. Will use & recommend them again. Preferred ++

Have more than one person to help process people in line. I understand not everyone may have "checked in" online in advance (I did), but I had to wait a half hour to get a truck and felt that wait was unacceptable.

Waited 1.5 hours for a truck I signed up for online, for "express checkout". There was 1 person working and a line of almost 30 people that I was fortunately near the front for. I waited from 9am until 10:30 to get my truck in the sun.

The staff was extremely rude. I was called a liar by one of the staff members. I was forced to take the U-Haul back to this location which was far from my home, then was charged for additional mileage because of it. I will never use U-Haul again!!! The staff needs to be fired! I watched them talk and treat people like dirt!!
