On Sunday, 10/8/2017 We were late picking up the van. We were late for the 9 a.m. pick up because of traffic congestion. This really annoyed Lisa. She phoned me about being late and said she would give the van away. I literally begged her to hold it for me because I was coming to pick it up. I wouldn't have reserved it were I not serious about needing the rental. I don't understand why, after I assured her that I would be there to pick up the van, she continued to tell me she was giving the vehicle to another person at 10:00 a.m. We arrived at around 10:00 a.m. and waited about 12 minutes for Lisa to return from picking up breakfast. Lisa told us that we would only pay for what we used. We rented the vehicle for 2 days. We were told that it was fine to return the vehicle early. So, after using the van around 12 hours, we returned it to the location on 10/8/2017 at 9:51 p.m.. The gentleman who took the vehicle assured us that everything was fine. We'd get an email. On the 'contract', it says I returned the vehicle on 10/10 (today, which is not possible). $19.95 for the rental rate + $39.90 rental charge + $20 CDW + $2 environmental fee + $7.10 rental tax = $103.76 total. I don't expect any honesty or resolution because when I called to ask about the charges, the matter was sent back to Lisa. If she had cared in the first place, she wouldn't have cheated me.

The service was awkward and terrible. As we were walking into the place, there was a rough looking man (didn't look like he worked there) out front asking if we had a reservation. we just said yes and entered. The woman working there was rude and didn't have any supplies (even though I paid for boxes when making my reservation) then tries to charge me $10/box for some dish box. As we were leaving the man outside said "good night" and we resonded "thanks' then as we were halfway down the block he screamed "GOOD NIGHT!" and was shaking his head as if we owed him a comment back. Just really strange experience.

I usually rent all my Uhauls at the Alameda Sherman St location but never again. They have changed staff and the girl who is there now is rude, nasty, unfriendly, impatient and slow. I found E D COATS and they are great. No hassle, friendly and quick. I will recommend them from now on. Thank you for the great service.

I booked on UHaul website the night beforehand. I also ordered full insurance. The website confirmed my order accurately. Then I got an email asking me to do pre-check in on line. When I followed the email instructions, the confirmation after my pre-check in showed that I had no insurance. One hour before pick up time, UHaul called to change pick up location to a different address. When I got there at pick up time, the manager has not arrived to open the place. Twenty minutes after the posted opening hour, she showed up, blaming office never told her I was switched to pick up my van from her place. And she took her time to get my van ready. She also needed to fill in everything again as though I never did the pre-check in. You know what, I don't care whose fault it was. I just know UHaul gave me bad service. I ended up 30 minutes late. I had six movers waiting for me, each at $35 per hour. UHaul's system really was deficient and wasted a lot of my time. There are many alternative truck rental companies. This is going to be the last time I use UHaul.

This was a terrible experience overall. I reserved my Uhaul online last Tuesday and requested 10am pickup. I received a confirmation email saying to pick up the vehicle at Brad's International on West Grand at 10am. I got there and it was a deserted, creepy alley full of trash. The Lyft driver was kind enough to wait while I called. I got an unhappy customer service rep who took ages to say, "Didn't anyone tell you? You have to go to 4th street. You should've gotten a text." No apology, no explanation. The Lyft driver was nice enough to take me to the new pickup but I was out $20 on a Lyft ride that should've been $6. The front office woman at 4th street was overworked/unhappy and grumpy. I had to use my customer service skills to kill-her-with-kindness into actually helping me. She informed me that though I had reserved a truck for 10am my truck was gone and would not be ready until 1pm. She did not offer any alternatives. When I came back at 1pm she was on the phone and refused to look at me or put the person on hold. I had to wait about 20min until she finished with that customer. Then it took a while to get the paperwork finished so I didn't get the Uhaul until ~2pm. This delayed my moving process by 4 hours and caused us to be moving late into the night. We were also unable to get everything moved that we had intended to move because we didn't have the Uhaul for enough time. I was especially frustrated that no one apologized, offered solutions, or seemed to care that Uhaul had botched my entire day. I still had to pay full price for this awful experience. If I could rate this below 1 star I would. Awful.

Have a little bit more explicit instructions when the office is closed? It was very sketchy.



Assign a dedicated gas station (with a deal worked out beforehand, maybe 10% off or something, and maybe facilities more suited for uhaul vehicles) that's close to the UHaul office so that the customer can just go there to refill the vehicle before returning. Having a dedicated, close-by, and cheaper gas partner would greatly increase the customer's experience in returning the vehicle, esp. given that the uhaul is really big and filling up the gas at a typical gas station is not that great of an experience.

I changed the drop off time by calling, then got several angry calls from the location because she was not told. She then had me sweep out both front and back of uHaul for normal debris (leaves from shoes, etc) threatening a $45 fee if I didn't. We rent uHauls all the time and have never had to do that, as normal wear and tear is in the contract. I will not be back.
