Don't try to sell the insurance when the customer is using a credit card that covers van rentals.

I had tried to book a motorcycle trailer or a trailer capable of transporting a motorcycle. The system sent me to a location 40 miles from my home. I called the support line and a rep helped me find a trailer within my county. She assured me it would have a motorcycle chock. Let me be clear! The motorcycle trailer and the utility trailer with a motorcycle chock are the only acceptable ways to transport a motorcycle. When I arrived to pick up the trailer, it did not have the chock. Unfortunately, I was out of time at this point and simply had to deal with it. The problem as I see it is a lack of motorcycle specific trailers in Santa Cruz County. Why can't we transfer a large amount of these trailers from areas where they encounter snow to Santa Cruz county? I have run in this type of problem with UHaul before. This suggests a shortage and a high demand. Please fix, buy more motorcycle trailers.

The store manager/owner is one of the best people in the vehicle rental sector I've ever encountered. He was professionally engaging while pointing out all issues I needed to understand and he made the whole experience easy going and fun, even while I faced a grueling move to a new apartment. He gave me a boost of enthusiasm. Upon returning the vehicle he made sure I had completed my contract as agreed upon, but with a smile and real understanding of my hard day's work. This was unbelievably the worst process you could imagine. First of all my reservation date was incorrect and I tried to update this online when that didn't work I called and spoke with the agent he said don't worry about it just come in we have plenty of trucks. So on my move day I had to walk down to the U-Haul lot only to discover that it had closed. Can you believe that? No one emailed me, no one called me. Nothing. I was totally actually moved about a half a mile further away so I had to walk up there to get my truck. When the guy open up the back of the truck to check it out it was a lot of trash inside so he had to clean that out before I could take it. I will never use U-Haul again. They suck!

The UHaul location at 433 Ocean St has wonderful customer service that goes above and beyond in kindness, professionalism, and assistance! (The location at 908 Ocean St should be placed under different management or closed. They were horrendous to me and others I've talked with. The Regional Manager was professional in investigating and I hope he will have success in changing things there because the talk about UHaul around town due to that one shop is not what any business wants to hear.)

Reserved a truck for Monday morning rental but was told on Monday morning that someone using my name had. in person, supposedly changed the reservation to Wednesday instead. I had never been in the location prior to the rental date so this seemed like a lie.

I was surprised that I was charged for 4gal of gas, when I only drove the truck 12 miles and didn't park it idling ever. How could I have possibly used 4 gallons to go 12 miles? It's there on the invoice. It makes no sense. The experience at the location was unprofessional. It normally wouldn't even bother me, except that I got fleeced for the price of gas I didn't use, so that's why I'm deciding to say something about the overall experience, which was also poor.

My only complaint is that when I tried to fill up the tank the overflow switch kept clicking off on the gas pump but I topped up until gas was over flowing out of the tank. Despite this I was still 2 gallons short. It seems like there is something wrong with the system.

DO NOT reschedule a customer after you have already confirmed their scheduled time. Fix your god-awful website that does not prompt to let a customer know that changing the length of their reservation will unschedule them completely. Make your reservations actual RESERVATIONS, not just suggestions, where apparently anyone can just take your truck if they want it. I reserved on a busy weekend because I knew their wouldn't be much availability. Why that means someone else can just rearrange the schedule at their own leisure is beyond me. If they want a truck, they should reserve early too.

The location was near our home and the service was quick and friendly. Unfortunately, the U-Haul van we rented smelled like a homeless person had been living inside of it with their dog. There was dog hair and dirt coating the inside of the van. We had concerns that there might even be fleas still living on the floor. We had a great experience picking up and dropping off the van, but would think twice before taking the first van we're assigned next time around.

Well, at 14 hours before my scheduled pick up traffic tried to call and change my pick up location. We tried calling back but they didn't answer. So the morning of my move they changed my pick up from 1.5 miles from my home to 30+ miles from my home to a beach resort town that is located over a mountain. It took me 2 hours to get the truck and get it home. I had movers and painters waiting of which I had to pay extra thanks to u-haul. I would say that if a customer makes a resrvatio. 6 DAYS IN ADVANCE, you should probably do a better job of accommodating them.

Inside clean,outside dirty!



I had called several of the local dealers who do rentals as an addition to their business (we don't have a full dealer in our area). The person, who might be an owner/manager of the station, was the only one who was VERY KIND, he really was GREAT, also was considerate enough to give me a heads up on construction that was in front of the establishment. It had been a stressful day for me and he was a ray of sunshine. He got my business simply because he had exceptional customer service.
