I paid for a 24 hour rental to move in with my girlfriend. The truck was due back at 4pm the next day. The move went smoothly and I was supposed to pick up a couch from a friend. They told me they couldn't do it, so I turned my truck in at 12pm. My friend then called me back and said I could have the truck back. I called the UHAUL customer service to re open the ticket so I could go grab the couch. I got a gentleman who said it couldn't be done. I asked to speak with a manager. Once I was connected I told her the situation and that I wanted to re-open the ticket. She claimed it was impossible. No company in the history of online service has ever made opening a ticket impossible. I told her I paid for 24 hours and that I needed this couch. She refused and was rude. Now my girlfriend and I are closing on a property in the beginning of July and I will be using Penske or Ryder trucks. I don't know if their service is better. I've always used UHaul. But I will not use you again because now I have to buy a new couch that will cost me hundreds of dollars so that your company could make a 4 hours of a 19.99 rate off of me. And when I begin studying and teaching at Cal State Fullerton in the fall I will be sure to let all students that have moving projects know to use another service.

I called uhaul because I needed the van longer than I thought I would. I asked the lady on the phone if I would be charged for the extra time and she said NO. However I was charged an additional $19.95.

We were not told in advance that there was a pickup "window", after which our reservation would not be accessible. It took us 30 min on the phone with customer service to successfully pick up our van. Customers should be told that you have 60 minutes from your pickup time to retrieve your vehicle. ALSO- we were not told that this location DOES NOT have a key drop box. Instructions on how to return to this location need to be MUCH clearer.

The check out was friendly and courteous, albeit a bit slow due to a slow computer. Took about 15 minutes. The vehicle itself was flawless. I do not understand, though, why I'm being charged mileage on top of the base rental fee and still have to refill gas. That seems like a racket to me. The real kicker came upon the return of the vehicle. The location is inside a laundromat in a very unsafe area, especially after dark. On my first attempt to return the vehicle, there were a group of violent looking drug attict males blocking the door to the key return, so I returned home and came back to return the vehicle with my husband. By that time, a drunk male was arguing with the laundromat worker. I proceeded to put the key back, when that man physically and verbally harassed me. The laundromat worker lady apologized and took the key from me and talked the man into letting me through to leave. It was a scary and traumatic experience. I will never use that location again. It's unsafe.

Have signs in the lot to indicate acceptable parking spots for U-Haul trucks and have the property management repaint the white stripes on the ground.
