Using Uhaul has been an aggravating, frustrating, and unpleasant experience. During both the checking in and dropping off the website froze, and I had to contact customer service. I spent an hour and 45 minutes on hold, to find out what was happening with my check in and drop off. Worst experience ever. I tried using the Live chat, what a joke. No one responded to me in over 10 minutes. Not worth it.Eva H.
There was nothing wrong with the U-haul but I'm an quite disappointed in the whole process. I booked online for a location close to me well in advance and out move out date. I was notified about 3 days prior that the location was not available and I'd have to pick up at a locational substantially farther from me. This made the trip for pick up much longer than it needed to be. The owner also did not even inform me that the dolly and blankets I ordered were not available. I noticed that the confirmation of the invoice was for an amount smaller than originally quoted so I reviewed it and that's when I noticed the items were removed. I texted the owner and he just said he didn't have the supplies. That's a pretty terrible approach to customer service. I should have been notified specifically that those items were not available so I could make other arrangements. It's a good thing I noticed so that I could figure something out. There was also a huge issue with the mobile pick up. Yes I realize you need a smartphone, however you should advice customers in writing what is physically needed to do mobile icl up such as a photo drivers license and not the paper copy you get that is VALID until your new license comes in. I lost my license before the move and had to get a new one. I had a valid paper copy of my license with correct info on it but to do the mobile pick up you need to scan your PHYSICAL license and take the scan of the skew on the back. This should be outlined very specifically in advance. That a valid, but paper copy won't suffice. I was lucky that the other driver on the order was with me. Overall just a ridiculous experience. I booked the UHaul for 10:30 am and you called 1-2 days before and told me I'd be picking it up at 5:30 pm. This sort of throws a wrench into the day, especially with people coming to help me move. Secondly, I booked a half dozen moving blankets and a furniture dolly and neither of those were provided. I really hope I wasn't billed for them. Unfortunately, I don't know of any other companies that rent out trucks, so capitalism for the win I guess.Zachary P.

Great location and super friendly staff at Athlone Convenience Store However the truck was super dirty inside the cabin, lot of garbage, nails, cigarette butts and the ignition switch broken.Ramiro R.
Would recommend if it was the closest rental facility. The truck was not very clean, with some garbage in the cab and the back was full of dirt and debris. It is also running loud, fairly rough, and took more effort than normal to keep it driving straight on the road. The initial reservation "could not be met" so a call agent redid my reservation, and was not very friendly, sympathetic, or helpful. At least I could get a truck, even though it was not what I reserved, and results in a slightly higher cost. And no option for a longer rental period, or extended hours for pick-up and drop-off. I believe U-Haul is let down by its IT systems - the website, the reservation system, the billing/invoice system, the IVR - all need serious improvements. The potential to improve the customer, dealer, and call agent experience is huge. This has been the same for almost every interaction I have had with U-Haul, whether online or in-store. I strongly believe some serious investment to redesign your IT systems and infrastructure would have a significant ROI and a major benefit for your customers and staff, and your bottom line.Bruce R.

The van I booked was unavailable for our time and location of pick up, so we were "upgraded" to a larger truck at a further location. We did not want a truck this large as it was more difficult to manage driving and packing it, and we also had to pay more for gas. Also, we did not need it for the full 48 hours we were charged for. All in all this was a terrible experience. The van was covered in dog hair, which my mom had an allergic reaction to--causing us to have to clean it ourselves. The gas tank was also very low which we were not expecting.Peter M.

I was charged for an addl day of 89.00 and have sent a request to Darren Wilson to get and answer as to why. He said he was the field manager, but has nit replied back as to why this charge was applied. I had the truck for only a few hours. We rented a 10 foot truck a couple days prior 2 the longer truck we rented on the 16th of March and the smaller truck was filthy and I mykal cleaned it out like moped the floor and cleaned the blood off he walls and my dad told the Chinaman that I did that and he's Nike no that can't be in disbelief like there wasn't any blood in it in the first place but he obviously doesn't look in the back of the truck after people use it...it was quite easy 2 get it despite not reserving one like last time and bringing it back was a breaze...I'd go back 2 this location againMichael G.

I was promised a 15' truck for two days from your 50th street location (a confirmed reservation). When I got there I was told that I could have the truck for 6 hours! I was sent to the second location on 127th street and was told that I could have the truck for 24 hours. This is the second time this sort of mix-up has occurred when renting from you. What kind of an organization are you running?dwight M.
The person at the convenience store where I picked up did his best to make the pickup as difficult as possible. Asking for a third party to confirm I'm picking up the trailer is ridiculous but when he demanded that I scan my license with a phone ad text it to him was the last straw. I presented my license but this fool said he wasn't trusted to verify that it was me. When I contacted the office in Calgary they said that was not required. When I returned and told him to call the Uhaul office in Calgary he then accepted my ID. This idiot cost me 2 hours of time. I would not rent from this asshole again. He gives Uhaul a bad name.James K.

I went to this location because my reserved truck was not available from a different location. The owner was so accommodating for a walk-in transaction on a holiday. I only needed the truck for 3hrs but was so happy that it was due for return after 6hrs because we were only able to return it after 3hrs. I highly recommend this location.Mae I.

The RESERVATION I made was for 8:00 A.M., but when I drove to this location, there was no one there, the store was closed, even though I had waited until 8:10 A.M., I tried phoning before I left this location and was NOT able to even leave a message because their voicemail box was full - Really?! By the way, the hours of operation for this location state they are open M-F at 7:45 A.M. Because the store wasn't open by even 8:10 A.M. I drove all the way home to phone the 1-800 number for U-haul customer service, but before doing so, decided to TRY to call this location once more. At 8:25 someone answered the phone to let me know that yes, they were now there! Now I had to drive back there yet again. NOT impressed, Unreliable and NO I would NOT recommend this location to anyone and have already told coworkers and friends about the unacceptable lack of service. So You are aware, I also had to PAY $ and reserve a time slot for the building/elevator access I was moving into and this took 1/2 hour off the time slot I had to pay for moving, time I NEEDED. Not to mention, other people took time off from work to help me move which also inconvenienced them. NOT impressed with the casual attitude of this location one little bit!Mavis S.

Booking with uhaul is unreliable and unorganized. First experience, the pod was suppose to be delivered to our house and it didn't arrive. Second experience, I booked a van at a specific location and upon arrival it, wasn't there. The sales clerk had to search for a van a different location.Frances Denise G.
