Hands 2 Hands is a thrift shop. There are piles of things everywhere outside the building. Inside the building looks like a hoarder has been there for decades. It's junky and does not appear to be clean. The vehicle was in good condition and clean. However, uploading the required pictures was problematic. You need to improve your app. I had to get the clerk at the thrift store to send a picture of the fuel gauge and the odometer because your app malfunctioned repeatedly.Cecil W.
Truck was not swept out although i was told it was clean and i should bring it back clean. Gas tank was not full although i was told it was full and i should bring it back full. (I did fill it to the top for the next person) The person at the location did not have the kind of dolly i had asked for. The person at the location had to call someone else to get my rental going. They had to call at least 5 times before the â€œofficialâ€ person picked up. I left 2 messages saying i was picking the truck up 2 hours late and asked for a call back both times to confirm. No one called me back so i wasn't sure this business was actually open until i got there.Steven S.
The keys that were given for the particular uhaul we had rented did not go with the right truck, which resulted in a 3 hour delay waiting for the locksmith to come make the appropriate key for the truck.Jonathan H.

I spent 30 minutes outside trying to get the app to work with my drivers license then once that was the person assisting me inside had to call off site people to figure out what i was asking for which took them 10 minutes because the person they called kept declining their call. Then once they got the ok they handed me the key and i went out to leave, when i opened the back there was no equipment in the truck so i had to go back in and again the lady had no clue what i was talking about, so again she called this other person who had to explain to them what was going on. so all in all it took me about an hour to get my rental.Trey G.
The truck was clean but tired and worn. 160k miles. You could tell that there was play in the front end and I would not want to take it on an out of town trip. It as OK for a low speed local move.Marcin S.

I booked for a 20 footer online, and was meant to pick up the truck by 10 am the next day. On getting there and having checked in online, I approached the front desk for the keys. I was surprised to be told that they do not have my reservation even after showing the confirmation emails and text messages from U-haul, as well as my check-in. Ostensibly, they had another customer to who they wanted to rent the truck. I had to ask customer service to call them to release the keys, and when the customer service officer called and told them that I was the person who was to rent the truck, the front desk officer dubiously kept mentioning another person's name even though the client service officer gave them my full name. The whole exchange wasted over 1 hour of my time. I would really like U-haul to address this, as it was a most unpleasant experience.Alvan-Emeka U.

The place was a dump. Hard to get into. Also nobody was there for drop off. Tried calling several times. Ended up just leaving the truck because I had my Uber waiting on me.RAM L.
The location where I finally ended up was great. This comment does not relate to Hands 2 Hands at all. My overall experience with Uhaul was horrific. I had a reservation at the Durham Chapel Hill store and after I stood in line (for more than half an hour) was told the vehicle I had reserved was no longer available. I got sent to another place that I was told had an available vehicle - it was reserved for someone. Then I was sent to a 3rd location and it was out of business. I went to get my Uhaul van at 9 am. I had people standing around waiting to help me move. I did not end up in a Uhaul van until almost 1 pm. I was paying people by the hour to help me. This was the worst experience I've ever had with Uhaul and I'm a long-time user. I'd honestly like to be reimbursed for all my Uhaul expenses - your inefficiency cost me 4 hours of paying people to stand around waiting for me.Karen P.

Proprietor was not there and the business was closed at the appointment time. I drove the van a total of 6 miles and put in $2 of gas, but was still penalized> $10 because the tank was 7/8 full, when actually the needle was way right of Full.James Patrick R.
I did NOT pick this site. I was told my truck was not available and assigned here bypassing 8 closer sites after making a reservation 3 weeks prior. This is not a U-Haul facility - it is a second hand thrift shop - and it is not like a Dorcas or Salvation Army - this is more like a hoarders home. Upon entering, the rental agent did not speak English. She indicated she had no phone and handed me a card and had me dial a number. I then communicated with someone who then communicated with U-haul. There was NO computer in this store and it relied on my phone. Thankfully I had pre-paid. I had no idea what was going on. While the women was not rude, she was in fact pleasant despite not speaking English well, however, her communication was poor to say the least. I had ordered a dozen blankets and they had none - in fact, they had no U-Haul supplies. I was home before I realized I should have done a survey online to review the condition of the truck, check the mileage or gas, but by then the link on my phone expired. Contacting UHaul by phone requires sitting on hold for long periods of time. Once home, I went down the street to my U-haul to purchase supplies.David H.

Hard to return truck via app, closed on Sunday's. An hour on hold to reach customer service and I was not able to change the credit card on file for billing. I was charged even though account was on Hold. I would not recommend Uhaulrobin S.
This place was a dump and the agent wasn't on site! Wouldn't recommend to anyone with options. They cancelled my reservation told me to fuck off then once I got it back they didn't have all the items requested. The person managing the Uhaul was not present. I had to talk to him or her thought the phone of the store cashier. He or she was not helpful. He or She wanted to have a picture of my credit card and driver license to give me the key of the truck because the Uhaul system was down and they could not verify the reservation even though I show them the confimation email I have. After giving back the key, they took some time to check the truck and the mileage.Quentin F.

Was extremely over charged price was unclear to what I was paying until I received my receipt. Location wasn't clean (donation center and lady didn't have on a mask) and unclear if I was in the right spot. Person taking my information wasn't the person at the location. Lady called a random # who took my personal information. Vehicle was alright...after being in the vehicle I noticed that the windshield wiper stock was broken so I wasn't safe whatsoever ever by the rain that came down today. Overall this was a very bad experience. I got what I needed but NEVER AGAINKingsley I.
This location needs to close or completely re-organize the "thrift shop" they've set up to sell all the seized goods from defaulted mini-storage lockers on site. I am frankly surprised they have not been fined/shut down by the fire department for fire code violations. It is hard to even get in the door with the amount of stuff hap-hazardly thrown about. The owner/operator was not present to check me out - I did it by phone. She was professional and helpful: the transaction was ultimately very easy (since I know how to connect a trailer), but only the thrift store cashier was present and she could not help with the U-Haul. The equipment worked fine (all lights, safety gear were present and functional), and the trailer was clean enough, but this seemed more by chance/luck than by intentional effort to maintain the trailer. While the process eventually went smoothly enough, it was not a very confidence-inspiring experience.Andrew B.
I initially scheduled a 9:00am pickup, I missed that time so I waited until they were opened. This seemed to create some confusion about my reservation. Maybe no fault of the people serving me, but they couldn't get timely assistance from corporate to resolve my issues. Once they got clearance they were able to dispatch the truck ðŸšš. I had email confirmation for 9am self pick up. When I arrived to get the truck and checked in on my phone, I was told that I needed to wait until 10am when the store opened to get the truck. Not only did I have to pay the movers for an extra hour of their time, Uhaul charged me for bringing the truck back an hour late, even though they gave it to me an hour late.Sally D.
If you want this store to represent your brand, then you have my answer. This is the most disheveled location. Confirmation was completed over the phone. Ordered dozen blankets which they didn't have. They provided 6 and stated I would not be charged and I was. Need a credit for that. The blankets smelled like gas badly. Audit the store!!!!!Tom K.

The truck I got had trash in it, and a large number of blankets I didn't request. A 36 mile rental cost me 96 dollars plus 10 dollars in gas. When I got back a man ran up to me shouted key! And took the truck and whipped it around the parking lot like a sports car.Robert N.

The rental location, while convenient to our home, was inside a very messy and disorganized thrift shop. The employee was not wearing a mask per NC mandate. We opted for counter pickup but ended up having to download the app anyway because the employee didn't know what to do and had to call her boss (who said the â€œsystem was downâ€). It took well over a half hour to check out the van. The van definitely could have been cleaner. According to the contract, I was asked to fill the tank with more gas than was in it when I arrived. The tank only had 3/4 of a tank but the contract said I needed to return it with 16/17 of a tank. The van itself worked great, was a perfect size, and had no mechanical issues. We would rent a U-Haul van again but not from this location.Christopher M.

I was frustrated with the mobile pick up process. Upon ariving to the location I logged into my account to access the vehicle. The required verification options were frustrating. I would have brought my passport copy if I would have known, it was after hours so I couldnt use my place of work, and the other options were very frustrating. The ladies at Hands 2 Hands were very friendly and helpful. I picked up the truck outside of normal business hours using the uhaul app. That was very convenient but the app is a little buggy and wouldn't let me upload pictures of the truck to dispute the condition of minor pre-existing truck damage. The pictures of the truck when it was last checked in may have shown the damage, but they only show you a thumb nail with no option to enlarge. They were open when I returned the truck. It was a pleasure to be greeted by smiling eyes. The ladies at Hands 2 Hands made checking the truck back in very easy. Great customer service!Daniel W.

I had an utterly terrible experience using the Self Service option to rent a UHaul at Hands 2 Hands in Raleigh, NC. My reservation was for 9AM but since I knew I was doing self-service and had a specified number of hours, I wasn't necessarily in a hurry to get there. When I arrived to pick up the truck, around 9:30AM, I went through the "check-in" process online and was advised there would be a chat feature available while I was being approved. I sent at least two messages through the chat feature that were never responded to. After about 15 minutes, my dad (whom I had listed as the secondary contact/identification verifier) received a phone call. The caller stated they were pushing thru my approval. We waited several more minutes with no approval, so I called back. I spent 57 minutes on the phone with someone who repeatedly said "I'm working on getting this approved, it should not take much longer." After about the 45th minute, I refreshed my screen, looking for the approval and realized the reservation had suddenly been cancelled. While I had been waiting on the phone Hands 2 Hands opened. Several employees and UHaul customers had been in and out of the store. And had MOST CERTAINLY seen me in the parking lot (walking around) and on the phone with UHaul waiting on the approval. Seeing the cancellation, I went into Hands 2 Hands to ask them to hold the truck and was informed that the employee at Hands 2 Hands had cancelled the reservation because I had been more than an hour late, though she never stepped outside to see if the reservation belonged to me. Furthermore, the employee was terribly flippant about the situation. After nearly an hour and a half, and a cancellation, Hands 2 Hands created a new reservation for a different truck for us to use. The process of the Self-Service pick up was a nightmare and the people at Hands 2 Hands were clearly very unappreciative of our business. I would truly appreciate at full refund for the usage of this vehicle.JESSICA C.
