My move in experience to my storage unit started out smoothly being informed that I would have access to my unit until 10pm to unload all of my belongings. I began the unloading process around 5:30 following a 6 hour drive with my belongings thinking I would have plenty of time given this feature. The feature is advertised on the website and was communicated to me by the front desk. Following the return of the trailer I rented around 6:45 while still needing to unload furniture from my personal vehicle and get everything into my unit I was told by an employee that I needed to have everything in by 7pm when they were going to lock the doors to the unit. This was a surprise given the advertised personal access and information provided just an hour prior. Apparently this was because the facility had re-cemented the key-gated entrance. While this was frustrating, the timing of it was even moreso as this employee had been standing outside of the units watching me unload and could have told us this earlier or been communicated by the office. When I asked if I could get everything into the unit and organize it past 7pm he replied no and that if I did I would be locked in the building since they were going to lock-up. It was incredibly disappointing and frustrating and directly went against what was advertised. What made it particularly frustrating was that the employee waiting until 15 minutes before the lock-up to inform me of this change. It resulted in me rushing to get the unit filled and I wasn't even able to complete the drop-off of items because of this change. I would have greatly appreciated up-front notice of this rather than relying on what is both advertised online and was told to me in person.
Andrew M | First ImpressionsHad some stuff stolen from beyond the security gate while I was moving in last year. I contacted the owner and while he was helpful that first day, he ghosted me and never reconnected. Never got my stuff back. It was stolen from an area with cameras AND only accessible by patrons so it should have been very easy to figure out what went down. The rest of my storage experience was uneventful.

My rating is based on our storage until is on the second floor with no elevator available and I was not made aware of this at the time of my rental agreement. I would have chosen another until if I was told before I completed my lease.
Michelle S | First ImpressionsMost of my experience was great but in the beginning I had two units, I cleaned out one unit and stored everything in another unit. You were supposed to throw away the stuff in one unit and instead you threw away all of my antique furniture. I didn’t have any receipt because the furniture was old and I’d had it a long time. You only gave me $2500 for the entire unit.

Don't know her name but she is tall, stocky, and dresses like a boy. I would not refer others to this location because of her alone. Everyone else have always been pleasant and inviting.

Brady w | First ImpressionsFirst of all the price for a strange unit here is BONKERS. Literally go anywhere else even if it’s inconvenient, you’ll save a good chunk of money. Second of all, I was charged on my move out date and called the location to ask for a refund. I was told that couldn’t happen, so I called customer service. I was told by them, even if I moved out (my unit was empty for two weeks) that day, the charge could be reversed. I wonder who else they’ve been scamming to make numbers. Anyway, CS talked to them and they did finally reverse the charge. However they didn’t close my account when I received my refund, so I was charged AGAIN! I will not be coming back for anything but a truck and that’s if I HAVE to. Don’t waste your money or time with their storage units.

Overall it's one of the worst storage rental experience that I personally has ever had. I would certainly be reluctant to recommend 900 N Lombardy Richmond, VA. 23220 to any close friends or loved ones.
