Online pick-up was not allowed during normal operating hours. The office was packed, so online pickup would have made things faster and easier for both myself and the single employee.

Service advisor was great.

Clearer instructions for after hours drop off- there were no designated Uhaul parking spaces, so I parked the van in a space that said it was designated for the printing store next door, as other Uhaul trucks were also parked there.

You did good

The van made a lot of scary noises like grinding or clinks making it sound like something was rolling around back there, even when it was empty. You might wanna have a mechanic check on that

With towing a $12000 bike I would like to have tires that are above average in wear....we we’re driving in a lot of rain soaked highways and such and would have felt more confident with more tread....

The location was very busy so it was good that the person checking the equipment in and out was efficient and friendly. The truck had over 60,000 miles on it but it was clean, ran well and met our needs for the four hour rental.

Limited return space ---- I was able to find a space but several trucks were coming in at the same time and there did not seem to be adequate space to accommodate them all

I ordered a 26’ truck, 1 doz pads, 1 appliance cart , and 2 2-wheel carts from Fishersville VA UHaul for Sunday pickup. Got called on Sat eve that it was not available. Got called on Sun eve that a truck was available at FBR towing in Charlottesville VA. Went Mon morn to get truck. They had NO 2 wheeled carts. NONE! There were 15+ trucks there and no 2 wheeled carts for my rental. It’s hard to load and unload a 26’ truck without any 2 wheeled carts. This should NOT be acceptable to UHaul management. I’m 65 years old and have always depended on UHaul for my moving truck needs and always got good service, but not this time. I am scheduled to pick up another 26’ truck, pads, apl cart, and 2 wheel cart on Sunday July 8 at Fishersville UHaul, Shenandoah Valley rental and storage. Depending on UHaul to provide excellent service.

I was extremely disappointed with the employees attitudes and the equipments condition. I was hooked to a trailer that was up to date and well maintained; however, I was disconnected from that trailer and was asked to back up to another car hauler that should be put out to pasture. The trailer was rusted and had four bald tires. I asked the guy hooking the trailer up about their condition and my being able to pull a car safely. He just nodded his head. I was worried the entire day for our safety and my cars that I was hauling. No one should be using the car hauler in its current condition. I have been pulling trailers for over 20 years. I have used every kind of trailer there is. I am extremely upset about why I was hooked to a perfectly good trailer to a piece of junk. I was given no explanation. The better trailer was still there when we returned. I should have never been unhooked from the first trailer.

Absolutely fantastic service from the guys and gal at FBR Towing. They were very friendly and helpful. This was hands-down my best U-haul experience.

Customer service wasn’t what would be expected - check-in was by far one of the most absurdly time consuming processses I’ve ever had. The stores computer system was so poorly running with only two people in front of me it took nearly 40 minutes to get my truck. It really shouldn’t be this difficult to process paperwork. It should be a maximum of a 20 minute wait for a check-in process, similar to the ease of use and simplicity of more modern car rental services. when I hired my rental moving truck I even completed the express online check-in. The man behind the counter clearly was not very computer literate and I honestly could have done a better job having a 12 year old take his position. I work in a similar industry and you all genuinely really need to work on being able to set proper standards for the facility and the equipment to stop people who are clearly unqualified from starting their own franchise. I’m sure that doesn’t sound very “American” of an idea, blocking people from starting their own business but there should be a barrier and a struck set of standards that need to be reached to become and operator. That store shouldn’t have the ability to rent these trucks out. TLDR: Store was small and very crowded, check in process was awful, truck was relatively clean and seemed to be well maintained with new tires and wiper blades. AC worked great. Store operator was incompetent but honestly this is considered cream of the crop when it comes to charlottesville Uhaul stores. Don’t go anywhere else, it won’t be worth it and you’ll have a worse experience than mine. Do: reserve the truck early way before your moving day to guarantee there is stock available for you to use. Not great: $50 cancellation fee in the fine print. Note: closest gas station to refill the truck before the rental return is the Shell station across from Bodos on Preston/Harris St.

Not clear where to leave the truck - staff was hurried and didn't offer much direction.

A smooth experience despite a couple technology glitches when I went to pick up the reserved van. I would recommend this location.

Dropped off after hours in drop box. No issues.

The place is like a junk yard.

The employees here were exceptional!

They were able to provide us with a truck, at the last minute and were very professional and helpful. Moving is never easy and I was grateful for such a wonderful experience.

Thank you! The employees here were so great!!! Friendly, knowledgeable and most helpful when I asked questions that seemed silly. Thank you!

Mark R. on

Simple. I wish they told me when I rented, that I could just put keys in drop box when I came back with it. I stood around for a while and finally had to ask someone in the yard what to do. Honestly, it was a great experience and I will rent from them again.

Mark S. on

The parking lot is small. We returned after hours and it was not clear where we could leave the truck.

Jennifer P. on

The online return process used my location on my cell phone and told me that I was at the right location but I was not. I had to Google the location and wouldn't have found the right place had Google not had a photo of the building that is next door to the actual drop of location, which was down the road from where the location finder had said was the correct location. Originally the tracker confirmed that the location was a gas station that DID actually have a lot of Uhaul trucks. The ACTUAL location was down the street two buildings with a tiny sign at the end of the driveway saying that there was a Uhaul location behind this other building. So if you need to find FBR Towing & Recovery Inc, look for a giant blue building that is printing company INSTEAD of a Uhaul location.

Samantha F. on

The only sign was very small and was kinda hard to locate. We drove past the location 2-3 times looking for it. There should be notice in the location name that it’s “right next to so and so” if they cannot get a larger sign.
