We were driving 3 1/2 hours from Massachusetts to Montpelier on Saturday 9/27 to move our daughter to Manchester, NH. I called to confirm the truck was available the day before and Mark told that no truck was there. I explained to Mark that I was moving my daughter and would be in dire straits without a truck since she had to be out by 9/27. I made this booking at least 4 weeks prior to the date. During that call he used many profanities to, I assume, someone off the call. I asked him why I wasn't notified that a truck was unavailable and he said â€œ that happensâ€. I told him I was going to call corporate to find me a truck and he said â€œdon't freak out let me call a guyâ€. He called me back later and said he found a truck. Now if I hadn't called, he would not have done this. On my drive to Vermont he called and asked for a credit card # and said the truck's gas gauge was at 1/2 a tank and to make sure to drop it off at the same level. He said he would not be there at the 9:30-10:00 time period I was picking up the truck so he would leave the keys under the visor. When I picked up the truck, the gas gauge was a little above a quarter tank. I dialed his phone # 6 times, and was hung up on each time. Finally he answered and I told him about the gas differential. He said he was busy and to just return the truck with the level I found it at. In the meantime I received an email receipt stating the tank needed to be 1/2 filled. The paperwork in the truck was for someone who had driven from North Carolina to Berlin, VT. There was no paperwork for me. I'm sure Uhaul can look to their records to see how many times I have used their service with great satisfaction. I know Vermont can be somewhat remote but Mark added extra stress and a true lack of Uhaul professionalism that I have experienced. Times are tough and I don't know anyone's situation so I wouldn't want this guy to lose his Uhaul affiliation but I do feel that he needs to be made a aware of, what I hope, are Uhaul's expectations. Maybe this feedback goes in the trash but it had to be said. Ultimately I did return the truck at 1/2 full because I did not want to deal with trying to fight something over the phone if I was charged for fuel at an above market price since I had agreed over the phone. Although it was probably only about $20.00 hit to my pocket, it was more the point to it and the stress it caused on 9/26 waiting to hear if a truck was available. Since it was after 5:00 PM in 9/26, I couldn't call around and find something else.

The truck was in excellent condition. It was absolutely clean and seemed to be in great running condition. The staff gave me their full attention to get me on my way quickly during pick-up and return. Their location is perfect for me. I will definitely use them in the future. I can't think of anything that would have made the experience any better, Maybe cake and ice cream??
No one was at the place. There was a sign on the door saying they were open and to call a number. waited for 15 minutes when some guy showed up and told me to drop the key in the overnight box and he would send me an email. Never checked my mileage or the truck...had to take it on faith he wouldn't try to add on extra fees
The service was very good,vehicle clean and with slippery roads we were advised to wait on travel as trucks can be light weight and greatly appreciated the advise even though our moving was of time sensitive nature,this helped to prevent jostled goods or an accident too. I would recommend Matt and Senters for usual anytime.
The location was not aware of my reservation and was not prepared for my pick up. The truck was frozen and the back latch had to be defrosted with a heat gun. What should have been a quick transaction took over an hour. It delayed my moving plans and hired help substantially. I blame UHaul for not communicating properly with the owner of this location.
Nice guy, good service, appreciate him shoveling the truck out. I called several times to confirm vehicle was there but no one ever answered or returned my call. Truck was in ok condition, it worked, was a little dirty in the storage area.
Extremely rude, charged extra fees that couldn't be explained and told us we could go somewhere else. Poor is a better rating than they should have, they should not be allowed to represent uhaul.
Truck wasn't swept out but poor guy was so busy on a Sat morning. His attitude was great though and that goes a long way. We've rented from UHaul before and sometimes the counter folks are rude.
Defective equipment caused damage to trailer. At drop off, the owner told me "Don't worry. It is all taken care of under the insurance". When I got home, there was an email from Uhaul telling me the insurance was void and I was getting charged for $250 dollars. Horrible experience. Equipment was not in good condition. No wire provided for the trailer lights. Had to take one off another trailer. These problems seem to Uhaul related, not the owner of the rental facility.
I returned the rental truck on time, cleaned, and with the proper amount of gas. The receiver was washing his truck and did not bother to process a return receipt saying I'd receive all pertinent documents in my email later in the day. I finally received my receipt only to find that he did not process my return until the following Monday and charging me two extra days totaling another $115 on my credit card. I spoke to the area person in charge and he will be processing the refund on my card. I'll be renting again in the near future and will surely NOT use this business as the return location (not even if I need my vehicle washed...shameful service in my opinion...and then to charge me two extra days!! Quite appalling to say the least.)
The issue was not as much the location as the fact that I had rented equipment in Burlington, but was sent to East Montpelier with less than 24 hours notice. Completely unacceptable customer service (representatives who I talked to were not helpful at all and were a bit rude) and in terms of not responding to my email (I sent a message on Saturday night that I have still not heard back on). If I have any other way, I will not be using U-Haul again.
Everything went fine, truck worked as normal.
We were over charged. We've tried calling to get this corrected and no is answering or returning our calls.
Right turn signal on trailer did not work
The problem I had with the pickup location was that it was 40 miles out of my way, and I drove by other U-Haul locations to get there! You need to do a better job of organizing pickup locations closer to your customers.
The tie downs on the wall were torn off and unusable in sections. The trailer looked "well used"... The person who helped me at this location was friendly and processed the paperwork quickly.
This is a used car lot with no drive in entrance.

I was not given a copy of the contract. When I asked about this they said "we're Green". Then when I dropped the truck off I found out they charged me more than quoted and safemove coverage which I was not asked about nor would I have purchased! I will share this horrible experience with anyone who will listen and will go out of my way to not use uhaul in the future! A past user of uhaul but no more
The customer service was horrible the equipment was not ready for use I had to drive an hour out of the way for my original reservation when I got to the location the person didn't assist me or give me instructions on how to to hook up the trailer and he didn't have the proper equipment the trailer was frozen stuck in snow took me an hour just to get free from the ice very bad experience and I won't b going back or recommending to anyone

There was an issue with the pick up time that had been confirmed two days in advance. It was agreed that I would pick it up at 8 a.m. No one arrived until after nine.
We rented a truck from East Montpelier and the gentleman who was in charge was excellent. He was experienced and personable, and had a 17-foot truck available, even though we did not have a reservation. HOWEVER, our overall U-Haul experience was terrible and I have years of experience with the U-Haul company that has always been excellent. This morning, I made a formal complaint, and asked for compensation for the entire amount of $194.52. We had reserved a 17-foot truck on Saturday, July 1st, from Ingals Market and Deli in Eden Mills, Vermont on July 1st. The man said he did not come in on Saturday morning, but he would be there on Saturday, July 8th at 8:30 AM. He never showed, there was no truck available, and the lady in the deli said he did not have cell service, so she could not get in touch with him. We were on a time deadline and it was extremely stressful and ADDED expense for the extra miles and ADDED money for the the two men helping. It took a while to find another U-Haul and it was in the opposite direction of where we were supposed to be, which is why we rented from Eden Mills. We were supposed to be somewhere for an event after the move, which we missed, due to the unexpected lengthy time it took. There was a huge downpour and had we had the original truck, we would not have had problems moving the theatre set in and out of storage as it was all painted on cardboard. We would like our money back, in full, from U-Haul Corporation, not the Montpelier Rental, as I have nothing but compliments for that man. Thank you.
