We picked up our car trailer at the Midway Ave location in San Diego. They did a HORRIBLE job. The guy did not hook it up correctly and when he instructed me to drive my car onto it, the entire front of the trailer popped up in the air. When I backed off of it, the front of the trailer dropped down under the truck which he had to then pull forward and it popped back up. It was nerve-wracking to say the least. He also left the fender over the left trailer tires down & was going to let me drive off like that. I had to get out of the truck & put it in the upright position, and not being familiar with it was not aware there wax a rubber knob to secure it (they never reviewed anything with me). To top it off, Saturday morning A couple of hours into our drive up I5, several people driving by me were frantically waving to me to pull over. I got off at the Castaic exit and saw that the left ramp to drive the car onto the trailer was COMPLETELY out and dragging on the highway. I slid it back in and saw that the latch to hold it in was jammed. The guy at Midway who put the ramps up just let me leave with it in that condition. I don’t deal with this type of equipment daily & even I immediately saw that it was broken. I went to the UHaul location at the Rodeway Inn in Castaic and the maintenance gentleman named Jose got the latch working with WD-40 and a hammer after about 10 minutes (I was very thankful for him). I was so nervous & stressed out the entire drive to Brentwood, wondering the whole time if my car or the entire trailer was going to come off the truck. When we got to the drop off location to drop off the car trailer, the proprietor said the car was not strapped down tightly at all. Just another failure and show of incompetence or complete lack of care by the crew at the Midway location. Worst experience I’ve ever had dealing with any company ever. I did not feel safe at all.

I thought that the 19.99 was a good deal but when you add in the 79 cents per mile and then adding the gas Uhaul is NO deal. Some robbers use a gun but you use mileage and gas. Will not use Uhaul again

So many things wrong with this experience. I didn't even care that the van was disgusting inside, but rather the sketchy location, unfriendly service, and miscommunication between location and uhaul on the phone. Was over charged when I was told It wouldn't be. After explaining myself over and over to attendant he finally waived one fee that was ridiculous. Other than location, i'm very disappointed with UHAUL in general. Have never had a bad experience with them, until yesterday.

I pre-ordered a furniture dolly but he didn't have one available and didn't know who might. I went to a second U-haul station and they didn't have one either. Both offered me a hand truck, which was useless for my needs. If I order equipment, your system should be able to determine that it's available and, if it is not, to offer an alternate location to obtain that equipment. My move would have gone much smoother with the furniture dolly I couldn't find.

Truck was not clean. Cargo space contained a considerable amount debris that customer had to clean out before truck could be used. On the plus side, store manager on duty was quick and efficient.

Love the guys that run this gas station and Uhaul rental center. They remember me every time I come in and they are super friendly. Such great business owners and go out of their way to help out their customers. Two thumbs up!!

This was thee worst moving experience I’ve had. I went online 48 hours before I needed the rental truck and unit. While I was online I spoke to a representative who shared that because of my zip code I needed to rent a large truck and I was also eligible for one month of free storage. I went ahead and called a representative to schedule and confirm my reservation where I was told over the phone my unit was again covered and scheduled. When I arrived at the Carlsbad location not only was a unit NOT reserved but I was then charged $100 AFTER I WAS TOLD MY ORDER/RESERVATION COVERED FIRST MONTH FREE. During my call i was told my unit was on the first floor. NOT WHAT I GOT. Because my unit was NEVER scheduled as I was told over the phone I then was given a 2nd floor unit. This seriously was the last thing I needed after moving all day long with an oversized truck I didn’t want to begin with but told I needed to get in order to qualify for the promotion. $200 later this was by far the worst experience I had with any business.

Both my pickup and dropoff spots were changed by U-Haul. Negative point #1. Redundancy of questions both times, even though I had entered all that info with request for truck. Negative point #2. Both gentlemen at pickup and dropoff were extremely nice and helpful, however they are doing 2 different jobs at same time. Having to keep waiting on customers at counter while trying to complete dropoff papereofk with me. Not fair to either of us-very stressful - at least for me. Negative #3. Otherwise everything was peachy.

Truck was dirty and wrong size truck. Needed a 26 ft truck and received a 20 ft. A 26 ft truck was on lot but not provided. Very displeased with uhaul and had much higher expectations from your company. I had to make arrangements and put people out of time away from family because your company would not deliver what was needed. Thanks for added stress at a time when trying to move a family. The very least you could have called before the day prior to pick up so I could have made better arrangements

Nothing technically against the location, but your entire system is flawed. I ordered a truck online and picked a specific location closest to me. While in the midst of ordering the truck, one of your representatives called me to change my location to a close enough spot. (I was fine with that change). I was sent a text message with the location and time for pick up. I get to the location and they have no idea what I am taking about. There were no trucks we could rent at the size we needed. The employee did a great job however, and agreed to give me a larger truck for the same price of the smaller. All in all we got a truck, however almost half an hour after it all started. I later looked at my email confirmation and it stated that my confirmation was for the original location I wanted. I start using the truck and moving what I needed, and then I get a call from another representative asking if we still needed a truck for our move. HUH?? aparently, your dumb company booked me for the truck at a completely different location (I can't even tell u where cuz I didn't understand the representative). All in all very very unorganized and I will have to say I will never use your corporate company again. I WILL suggest that you find a way of being more organized with the inventories of all locations and what they have for trucks. Also you need more communication to the customers of where to pick up!

The teller tried to nickel and dime me on gas consumption. I drove a total of 21 miles and claimed I needed to put in over 4.5 gallons worth of gas. To his estimates which is based on an ambiguous chart and gas gauge on the vehicle, the van only gets about 4-5 miles to the gallon. Shady and unethical. I will never be using this service again.

You do have to provide information again when in the store so the check in does not seem necessary online! The staff were very friendly and helpful.
