Upon arrival, Sylvester, the manager at Coastal Mini Storage, was pleasant and helpful. We completed the paperwork and inspection of the rental truck, however, he gave us the keys for the wrong truck and suggested we couldn't open the door. When he looked at the numbers on the truck again, he realized he gave us the wrong truck for our rental. We waited for him to get the correct truck that was located in a different area, and then completed another inspection and paperwork. He reviewed the gas level on the paperwork without checking the level indicated in the truck itself. Once we turned on the vehicle to leave, we realized the gas tank was less than what he indicated on the gas document. We had to delay our departure, yet again, so Sylvester could adjust the paperwork to show the low gas level. He told us we would have to fill it to the 1/4 tank level, get a receipt, then continue to fill the rest of the tank. He told us we would be given our money back for the low gas level when we dropped the truck off at the other location, as it was a one-way rental. The person in Columbia, SC, where we dropped the truck off at, said it was the responsibility of the pick-up location to have the correct amount of gas, and he could not reimburse our gas receipt, as Sylvester had told us. We called Sylvester with the information, and he said he would credit our card through U-Haul. Our card was never credited, so we made another call, and ware told the same, Sylvester would credit our account through U-Haul. I sent an email to U-Haul and Sylvester, with all the paperwork of the transaction attached, and more than one month later, we have not received our $30 gas credit! When we called U-Haul several times to resolve this situation, we were placed on hold for more than 30 minutes. This was our first time using U-Haul, please refund our $30 and restore my faith in your company.

I had called the 1-800 # to reserve my U - Haul truck rental. I was originally going to reserve a truck with Budget but the U-Haul customer service rep agreed to price match what Budget was offering. After that there was a lot of confusion! U-haul charged me the FULL price for a 15' truck -- Hundreds more than what I was expecting. I noticed it on my receipt when I was renting the truck and asked if that was correct. The manager told me that the amount would come off when I returned the truck to my drop-off location. That turned out to be inaccurate. I was told the complete opposite by the manager of the drop-off location I picked. I have been told that this charge isn't refundable. I seriously have an ulcer. Moving is already so stressful as it is! I probably would not have gone with U-Haul had I known this was going to happen. This error is STILL trying to get sorted out. It has been a lot of stress! I want this to be over and I want to be refunded the difference of what was originally promised to me. It's not fair that I have to pay for someone else' mistake.

Customers should be made aware of certain charges that will be automatically added to bills prior to taking keys for equipment/trucks. For eg. I was told my bill would only be at the agreed rate plus .99 cents per mile. I was not informed that vehicle would need to be returned with full tank of petrol nor was I told about an environmental fee or Safe Move charge when I booked vehicle via telephone. I do not rent vehicles everyday hence it would have been a plus to be informed of added charges prior to entering into a contractual agreement. I had particularly asked about overall cost of renting this vehicle. Overall, bad customer service !

The agent was extremely courteous and honest. There was a discrepancy on the fuel contract and the agent fixed and initialed and left note for receiving agent to call if there were questions. Probably should have asked it to be changed in computer, but I take a man at his word

I am very unhappy because I did an express check-in, but I still had to spend time to check in, and wait for vehicle to be inspected for my use. I also asked for a furniture truck/dolly, but none was provided. I had the same experience on September 30, when I had to go all the way to castle hayne, nc, to pick up truck, and no fury or appliance truck was available after I had reserved them. I will not use uhaul again.
