Why does it say move out date is this week? You locked me out in Fall of 2019 and told me it was too late to get my things. I lost treasured belongings. This was very psychologically damaging. Joi, the person who helped me was great. I was told though that it was a 24 hour rental and that I would get charged for actual mileage. I picked up the truck at 3:30 and dropped it off same day at 11:30 but I was charged an extra day rental. Also, I actually went to return the truck earlier than 11:30 but there was a very shady individual that was standing right by the door. It looks like he was doing drugs, etc. I was not able to pull the truck up and drop the keys in the night drop. I finally called U-Haul to find out what I should do because I had to drop the truck that night as I was catching a flight back to Seattle in the morning. We waited a long time and finally the person left. I rushed and drop the truck and keys and got out of there. I was a huge waste of time and scary because it was only my daughter and me. Only complaints are that I wish I didn't have to fill out a whole new contract since I have a contract / unit there already, and that it was made clearer that "online ready to move in" meant "the lock is already in the unit." Joi the store manager was so great to work with. I had gone to a closer U-Haul originally (4021 N Interstate Hwy 35, Austin, TX 78722). When I walked into the first store (labeled U-Haul at UT Austin), you would have thought I had just ruined the two people who were working's day. They refused to help me locate a truck, opting to tell me they had nothing available until Dec. 30. They told me to call the U-Haul 1-800 number and that was it. Zero effort on their part to try and provide me with any assistance. As soon as I walked into the second one, U-Haul Moving & Storage at I-35 and Airport Blvd, it was like night and day from the other U-Haul. Joi, like her name implies, was quite literally a joy to work with. I walked into the building worried now that I wouldn't be able to rent anything. Joi sat me down, went on her computer and was able to get me a truck with everything I needed in less than 10min. Moving is stressful. Having to work with difficult people amidst a stressful time is very difficult. Joi took away any and all stress I had. Minus me having to drive the truck. But no one can help that but me. I would 200% recommend you go to the U-Haul Moving & Storage at I-35 and Airport Blvd and work with Joi to get all of your moving needs taken care of.Dana K.

Locking handle to unit I was assigned was broken and mangled and made it super frustrating to get in and out without cutting myself. Lady who assigned me the lock was super short with me and even took a personal call while to interrupt me getting my unit. My daughter rented a cargo van Sunday 8/9 and used for two hrs, I had reserved for 4 hours, she returned the van And realized she left her purse in it. She went back and the guy said there was no purse and he already rented out again, REALLY??? Complete BS!!! The employee inside the store (1032 E. 46th St location in Austin TX) was not wearing a mask, even though all business employees and customers are required to wear a mask in Travis County. I chose contactless pickup for a truck rental, but the website was not working when I arrived so I had to go inside which I would have preferred to avoid entirely. I made a reservation with the app. The app directed me to a different location than the one I originally chose. When I arrived, I was unable to obtain the vehicle without interacting with a Uhaul employee, which I would have preferred not to do on account of the virus. I asked the employee to put on a mask before I interacted with her. She was offended by this request and told me it was "her building". I said if she is going to interact with the public then she should be responsible and take the incredibly easy measure of wearing a mask. Anyway, she didn't even have one. Moving on, she apparently deleted my reservation and created a new one for me. When I made the original reservation, I declined the CDW. I didn't want it, didn't need it. When I returned to the location and checked the truck back in via the app, I saw that she had included it. I went inside to speak to her about it (she still wasn't wearing a mask) and she said the CDW is not optional, that it's required. This is false. I have rented trucks from Uhaul dozens of times. I would appreciate being refunded for the CDW, which you will see I declined by looking at my original reservation. Appart from the CDW: Uhaul should educate its staff about the value of basic (and frankly not difficult) measures such as wearing a mask. If your employees are not intelligent enough to take these measures on their own, Uhaul should require them. In the meantime, I will not be returning to Uhaul unless it is absolutely necessary.Mike O.

I have never been more screwed over by a company than by the Uhaul, located at 1032 E. 46th Street, in Austin, Texas. I rented a 10-foot moving truck with 20 miles purchased for 24 hours. First, they charged me additional mileage, stating that I went 66 miles when I only drove 20 miles. I left the Uhaul Truck at Uhaul when I rented it and picked it up when I needed it to save on mileage. I drove 7.4 miles to my home and 7.4 miles back and left it again at Uhaul were I picked it up, with no stops. I returned the next day to pick it up as I was still in my 24-hour rental period. I literally drove 2.1 miles down the road to my storage facility and then back to Uhaul to drop off the Truck. Where before returning I put $6 gas from the gas station 500 feet from Uhaul. The Truck gets 10 miles per gallon, and I put in 3 gallons at $1.99 per gallon. So I drove 18.2 miles and on my contract, I said I would drive 20 miles total, so I gave them 10 additional gallons for free and still was charged for fuel. Yet, they say I drove 66 miles and charged be a fuel charge as well(I left the truck parked on an incline, and I bet that is where the fuel level was read which would show less than what it actually had, I thought that might happen but, not to this extent)Not to mention that every day before I went to pick it up to go to my storage the Assitant Manager called to be to ask where the keys were. I told her that I was not done with the Truck, and it was not due back till 6 pm that day. I asked if that was a problem, she stated it was not, but they close at 5 pm, I asked what do I do when I return it, and she said to drop the keys in the dropbox and that nothing more. I did as she instructed, and as I was looking up, I looked over my paperwork and saw that there was an after-hour check-in process done online. I began doing it and realized I needed a picture of the mileage to complete the process, and the system will not let you complete the process without uploading an image of the distance. The Assitant Manager never said anything about the after-hour process, or I would have been prepared. So the next day, I get emailed a receipt for a $127 charge for what should have only been $50. I planned my move strategically as Uhaul, in some cases, charges for mileage. So every mile counts! If things could not get worse, as I was driving down to Uhaul to discuss the above billing issues, I get another email receipt for a $220 charge for damage. I thought to myself; this has to be a mistake as I know for a fact that I did not hit anything or would have let them know. I was charged for a huge gash to the rear of the Truck. I never hit anything at any time while it was in my possession. Come to find out Uhaul is suppose to do a walk around the vehicle prior to taking position of the Truck. At this time you and the employee notate any prior damage. A walk around never took place. Additionally, why was this billed to me hours later after they charged when they checked theEnrique G.

I moved in to my storage unit on October 20, leaving it secured. When I returned on October 27, I found it had been robbed during the course of those 6 days. No notification was given to me regarding the break in, nor has there been ANY communication from U-Haul regarding the next course of action. The general manager, Laura Alcazar, had promised to get in contact with me the next day, but that was not followed through. This place has holes in their fences that allow people to come in and ransack units. They â€œfixâ€ these holes by using cheap zip ties that are just ripped off when thieves need entrance again. They also conveniently have spots where the cameras don't cover so as to allow thieves to get in and out without detection. Avoid this location.John D.
