I was very disappointed that the estimated miles were charged to my account vs the actual miles!!!!!!! What is that all about?. You Charge .79 per mile based on what I provided as an estimate. My miles came in less and you did not adjust. I do think that was not transparent and only tricks the customer. FROM NOW ON I WILL ESTIMATE LOW AND YOU BETTER NOT ADJUST FOR THE OVERAGE. Take this location off the website as a drop box location. I lost an hour of time dealing with the employee and having to wait until the building even opened. Train the employees to be more customer service centered.
I noticed the tank was a little below what it was supposed to be when I started driving, but because I already started driving I didn't document it. It would be nice if they could double check that themselves before the customer takes it.
Everything was great
When I returned the vehicle at 1:40 PM, the office door was locked and a sign was displayed saying, â€œback soonâ€. No return time posted. No phone number posted. How long is â€œsoonâ€? I left a voicemail message, left the van in the parking area, did not see the box to deposit the key, had an appointment that I needed to get to, drove to my appointment, totally pissed off. Than I got a call from the clerk who told me that he had been taking a lunch break, watching me on his security camera, knew I was there but didn't open the door. There was no way that I could get back to the office before it closed at 4:00 PM. He told me to come back at 9 AM the next day but that there would be a late return fee. This guy has a lousy attitude and needs some training. Terrible experience for me.
Online checkout is useless at this location since the trucks are locked behind a gate. The after hours return is also too confusing.
I got billed for the dolly and pads when I never used them.

Make sure customer understands what they need to do on their phone before they get out of vehicle on returning. Maybe even just show them the quick video and that they'll need to take live photo of odometer before returning key.
The location was great, the truck was what we needed, the old school things we needed to be there worked well. What was horrible was the Uhaul mobile pickup experience. You. Can. Do. Better. You NEED to do better. The fact that there's a 5 minute video to instruct customers how to rent the truck with DIY pick-up is a problem. It should be so intuitive that no instructional video is required. The fact that I have to be forced to accept your insurance coverage on the app when I pick up the vehicle even though I declined it on the reservation..but the employee in the store can waive it when I vocalize I want to waive it...that's a problem. The fact that I could have selected mobile pick-up / DIY pick-up for outside normal store hours is a problem when the facility where I picked up the vehicle doesn't have lock boxes for me to get the keys is a problem. I know you're trying to be super modern, but you need to get the infrastructure established before just throwing a deficient mobile process out there thinking that's all that it takes to be appealing to those of us who live on our mobile devices day in and day out. Whoever developed this process clearly did not try to actually pick up a truck DIY without an employee in every type of facility that you partner with. You need to do more testing and process improvement to get this right. It's a horrible, horrible experience for the customer. Thankfully the time of day I needed to pick up the truck the facility was open and there was a man working there who got us on our way quickly after much frustration and swearing at the mobile app from outside as I stood by the truck wondering why this mobile process wouldn't let me move to the next step and be on my way. So irritating and thankfully that man made my day and turned around my horrible experience to be better.
I originally scheduled my truck at the Saint Louis Park location because its much closer. They called me and left a voice mail a DAY before my move and said it was mo longer available at 9 am and it will now be at a different location at 1pm!! I was in a panic. Not happy with that at all!! I called them and told them I NEED it for 9 am as I had to drive to Saint Cloud and back! They found me one but it was 13 miles from home. Not ideal .
My major problem is that I had arranged for the truck for 6 hours. I arranged to pick up the truck at 0930. When I got the truck the man who was there stated that I had to have the truck back at 2p.m (2:15 at the latest). That only gave me 4 hours and 45 minutes. I checked the truck in at 2:13. My kids and I damn near killed ourselves to achieve this and we then had to finish the move by car loads. If I would have been allowed the full 6 hours that I arranged, we would have been able to complete the move easier.
Charged me for gas even when i put in the correct amount of gas upon return!!! Communication between ACORN AND U-HAUL NEEDS to be better! Quicker! So that the customers don't have to go through this
