The team at Charlottesville Tire and Auto make it super easy to rent and return U-Haul trucks. This was the 3rd or 4th time I've rented from them, and I will continue to use them in the future. Very friendly and courteous staff.Thomas H.
This location and staff were extremely helpful and I am very grateful which is why THEY deserve five stars. NOT, I repeat, NOT Uhaul. As far as Uhaul is concerned, I wish there was an option for a negative amount of stars but then again, there still wouldn't be enough!! I made a reservation online 4 weeks in advance that â€œguaranteedâ€ that particular location would have what I needed. Go to pick up the moving truck and it is not there, has nothing that they could substitute, and the closest location was two hours away if I want to go pick up. So Uhaul screwed up and I have to drive two hours one way to get what I need when I have to be out of my house in 24 hrs!?! I understand conditions in the market are extraordinarily complex and resources are stretched thin. If that is the case, then don't guarantee it! Or give a courtesy call, something to let the customer know so they are not caught at the last minute. Will not use them ever again.Chris M.

We generally have low expectations for U-Haul self-serve so our expectations were met. The App check in process is ponderous, encountered a glitch and next to impossible to get help, the lock on lockbox was not functioning well, finally managed to open it; there was trash from the last user in the car.LAURA G.
My entire experience was very poor. The location this review is requesting is not the original location I had requested a rental from. The gentleman that was able to help me at 1700 emmet street in cville was great. I'm sure he had to deal with many issues similar to mine. I had originally requested a rental in waynesboro va. When I went to pick up a truck in fishersville the lady at that location told me my reservation was canceled and I had no knowledge of it. She then couldn't help me find a place to get what I had reserved but instead was very rude and just gave me a 1800 number to call. I was on hold for Atleast 45 minutes and when someone finally answered, the lady on the phone told me she had one all the way in Charlottesville va...30 miles from where I was moving from and was moving to. They offered to lower the mileage rate after I said I was not paying for the mileage to drive 30 miles to pick up the truck and return it. The truck itself was in port condition and rode very rough. Seemed pretty unsafe. Next, when I had to bring the truck back to cville which was due in less than 24 hours because if the issue the day before, I was given instruction to leave the key in an unlocked key box so the next person could get it so to my knowledge I felt that I was most likely wrongfully charged for mileage since there was no one to â€œcheck the truck back inâ€ being a Saturday. Terrible customer service. The majority of families move on weekends since we work during the week, uhaul should be open and available for customer service on the weekends.Rachel S.

The truck was dirty and now you guys are saying I had the truck till now witch I turned it in on January 13. 2021. Now I get a bill saying I have had the truck for 54 day lol why would I keep that p.o.s? I'll take this to Court if I have to no way am I paying for there mistake. Very upset.Artesia C.

Your customer service line was horrible. I got a rude girl on the phone and she hung up. I was really pissed that I was not emailed or texted that my pu location was changed, and it cost me more money in mileage because I cannot get to my vm right away! I was called but no text or email! I should be reimbursed for some of my miles since I did not learn of the pu location change right away. Also there was a 10ft Truck at my original pu location! Because I went there not knowing pu location was changed and saw the truck!Elizabeth K.

I was unable to use the online system to drop off my truck, but the local rep was very helpful. I also had a problem with the U-Haul system changing my drop off location without my consent, which I had to correct. Process if picking up the uhaul virtually was very time consuming and slow. The cabin was dirty and didn't you seem like it had been cleaned and vacuumed from previous use. Would recommend this location only out of convenience.Justin Y.

The employees were not wearing masks. They were not courteous. The truck had items from the last person who used it in it, so clearly it was not sanitized for Covid19. It was disgraceful and dangerous. I was happy that I wore my N95 mask that day. I will NEVER use this location and will encourage EVERYONE to not got there.Martha M.

When I arrived there were four workers in the front room and none were wearing masks. This is despite our governors order to wear a mask in all indoor places. During my entire check in process no one put a mask on. I left quickly and will not recommend this place or use it again. As a physician it is critical to use a mask at a minimum and would assume if a customer came in this would be required as a company but apparently not.Paul K.

I was completing a drop off after hours. The location is very poorly marked as to where Uhaul trucks should be parked. The actual lot was incredibly small. Other uhauls were parked on the street, but the Uhaul website specifically said that if the truck wasn't parked in the lot, you could be charged. Better Uhaul specific instructions need to be posted for this location for after hours drop offs.Hannah M.

There was no place to park the truck on return and no-one available to help. I parked the truck on the street but was unsure if this was ok. The key drop was not marked and I dropped them in the garage night drop. Not sure if this was the right place.Brent M.
Trucks were lined up down the street since the location could only hold 4-5 vehicles to begin with. There was a lot of walking up and down hill. Also, the app told me I was going to be charged for fuel even though the fuel gauge was in the same place as when I rented the truck. I submitted a dispute and was never called about it.STEPHEN S.

Not one employee of this location was wearing a mask. The van I received look good initially until I noticed a left over tissue box and scattered dirt in the back. Pick up and drop off was easy. I'm glad that I was able to be charged a lower rate for returning the van early.Audrey M.
