Was Charged a $27 cleaning fee. When i hadn't left any rubbish in cab. Phoned and emailed about the fee. But No answers! Been a week of trying. According to internet U haul do this all the time. Very disappointing

I tried to rent from the same location the day before and was told conflicting information by the attendant wasting my time and forcing me to come back. Then to top it all off, the app tries to charge me a $25 cleaning fee! The truck was so thrashed and dirty it was almost a cliche. That truck hasn't been cleaned in years. Fuck your cleaning fee. Uhaul living up to its trashy reputation.

My latest U-Haul rental experience, was unbelievably sub-par - just when I thought it couldn't go any worse than the time I rented with them earlier. So, I rent a truck for self-pick up in Brooklyn at 8pm (for 24hrs). When I get there 8pm sharp, the app said I need to check in in person instead (note this location closes at 5pm). I called customer service and it took about ONE hour for me to get a human being on the other line to pick up. It took SO long that my phone died and I had to bike home first to go recharge my phone (I left with 75%). Even the people in the emergency hotline had NO power to somehow prioritize my case given my issues to pick up the van and my low battery warning. When I finally was able to get the issue resolved, the representative on the line advised me to use 'the browser', not the app. It was then 9:30pm, 1,5 hrs after I was supposed to pick up my van. Since this is the SECOND time this frustrating scenario happened in a short amount of time, this points to a systemic breakdown rather than a sporadic occurrence. I am a starting, new business owner and all I can say is that I can't rely on U-Haul for my transportation needs. I have missed over $100s of assignments on these 2 instances, ended up working throughout the night to make up for last time, and worst of all made a bad impression on these very important first customers.

The van was excellent. Using the mobile app return was very convenient. Bu the parking area for the van and the area around the key lock boxes were incredibly filthy. Absolutely disgusting. I as an adult man of 60 years is fine with it, but I could never recommend it to my wife or a woman who would be alone.

they gave me a truck w/ a bit under a quarter tank of gas, and charged me $40 for returning it w/ the same amount - even after refilling.

The interior where you sit was very dirty. Crumbs everywhere, receipts everywhere, just very very dirty. The back of the track where you load everything had little metal shavings and screws littered all over it. I swept the back before I used the truck, but I didn't have time to clean the front area so it still is dirty.

The van I rented had three yellow lights flashing on the dash. One said check oil, one said check engine, and the third was just a flashing exclamation point. I was afraid it was going to break down the whole time I had it. Someone please make sure that vans like that aren't given to customers!

There was no windshield washer fluid at all. It’s not safe to drive in this freezing season. We had to buy it. Isn’t it supposed to be there for the safety?

I needed a U-Haul after hours, so I chose the self pickup option. The website/app was not working properly, so I spent more than an hour on the phone with customer service representatives (most of this time was spent waiting on hold). After my third call, I was finally able to get into the lockbox, but there was no key inside of it. I was given a number to call, but it went straight to voicemail. I left a message, but no one ever called me back. I had hired movers, and they kept my entire $200 payment, even though we were not able to move anything.
