I've gone there now FOUR times during business hours when they were supposed to be open and they haven't been there and the place was locked up. I had to unhook the trailer myself when I specifically went there to get help with that and it took me over an hour and four phone calls to U-Haul with 3 kids in a hot car on a 95+ degree day to do it because they weren't there. Because the people on the phone at U-Haul couldn't help me, I left the tow hitch at the place and have gone back to get it three times and they were closed when they were supposed to be open. Clearly they don't value my time or anyone else's.

I've rented here before. Drop offs are ok. Personnel are not friendly and smell strongly of cigarettes. He arrived at 3:20 for 3:00 pick up. I'll rent from cross town location when I need something.

i was supposed to pick up cargo van from cherry ave but later i came to know that i have to pick up the van from different location. I am not happy this time with the service.

The right approach is to walk with the customer to the vehicle, go over the essentials, make sure all is as it should be. It's not to hand me the keys and say, "I think the vehicle is parked out front," never even leaving the counter.

The only thing worse than the upkeep of the shoddy shop was the incredibly poor service. The older, disheveled man at the counter didn't acknowledge me until he finished surfing the web for personal shopping. He was also short with me when I had basic questions to get a deeper understanding for what I was purchasing. I love supporting local businesses and the community, but this experience was perhaps the worst customer service I've had in all my time in Charlottesville. Proceed with caution. If you're getting a U-Haul, call the company and insist on another pick-up or drop off location as this place does not deserve anyone's hard-earned dollars.

My troubles started with me renting a 26ft truck from the u- haul location closest to my house, which was only 3miles away. My reservation was changed by u-haul to a 20ft truck and located 15 miles from my house. When I arrived at the pickup place I explained to the owner that the smaller truck would create more trips and now more mileage than I originally budgeted on. The owner was extremely rude, kept cutting me off while I was speaking and ultimately told me that it's money out his pocket if he changes my rate. He then told me to call u-haul myself, but added good luck getting ahold of them, they never answer. I did call u-haul and you all did answer and you changed my rate to .69 a mile. However with double the trips we ran out time moving on our original day and had to keep the truck 2 additional days to work around work schedules. My original order of a 26ft truck gif one day, 3 miles from my house would have been no more than $80. Instead this cost me $232! This was a stressful transaction and very costly to me, I'm very disappointed in my experience all around.

The employee working at the location did not notify us that to close the contract we would have to use the app at the drop off location when dropping off the truck and key. I had to call customer service when I got home to make sure no additional charges would be added to my contract.

The gentleman operating the uhaul concession at Carterfields was courteous and professional, as well as funny and helpful. We were in a tough situation, needed a closed truck (inclement weather) with a big enough cargo opening to handle a King bed, just for the day. Worked out perfect.

The cashier "bobby" was rude and unprofessional. The truck was old and not clean (spilled soft drink in the cup holders, duct tape to cover cracks). The seat belt alarm was broken and rung during the entire drive even though the seat belt was plugged in. The truck's transmission is about to go and it had extreme difficulty getting out of first gear. This unfortunately was not my first bad experience with this place. I've learned my lesson and won't be back. Would avoid--many better options in town. Don't be fooled by the "high ratings" this place gets. I question their credibility.

I received a confirmation email for my vehicle at 9 am. A week later, I got a phone call saying the truck wouldn't be ready until 4 pm. This was mildly disappointing. But much more disappointing was how incredibly rude and standoffish the clerk was when I tried to explain this to him. Upon return, the same clerk let me wait at the counter for five minutes while he surfed facebook on his phone. I had to actually track him down to return my keys. I'll be using Penske next time just to avoid this condescending and rude salesman.
