My order was processed over the phone, representative was extremely kind and seemed knowledgeable, however our original order for a 20’ truck for 3 days with a pick up at the Shell off Anderson Highway was completely butchered. The representative confirmed the price to be $126 then later corrected it to $195. My confirmation email was incorrect stating I ordered a 20’ truck for only 1 day at a different pick up location than requested. I picked up the truck at the chippenham location (not requested-40 minutes out of the way) and was charged an additional price of $106 and verbally told I could keep the truck for an “extra day no charge”. I reached out to customer service confused as to why I was charged $195 then an additional $106 and spoke to Emily she couldn’t answer my question but did contact the chippenham uhaul and they called me back about 20 minutes later, I spoke to Roxanne and she said she would be refunding me for a total of $80. Please send me complete invoice for your services because at this point we’ve already returned the truck and we don’t even know what your daily rate is. My family and I are very unhappy with your services and your representatives and would appreciate a refund for our wasted time. Thanks, Cady

At least the business had a good supply of vehicles for immediate use. The elderly gentleman at the counter should take some basic instruction on customer service. He just kept looking at some huge manuals and would barely acknowledge your presence. Very strange behavior and clearly he was not going to move from that stool he was sitting on for us to verify the mileage on the truck or answer questions. The same behavior was manifest on returning the truck. I asked for him to check on it’s cleanli ness and the mileage but he said he would do it later. Most businesses would verify that in writing and we would both sign off on that. I left wondering how much I would be charged and wishing I had thought to take a photo with my phone to be able to prove the mileage, the gas refill and the cleanliness of the vehicle. Also, I was not informed by the woman I talked with at the 800 number when I was setting up the rental, or the man at the counter, that there would be an insurance charge called “safe move” of $14. Its obviously important to reveal all charges or potential charges to a customer beforehand. I was pleased the truck was available on short notice and I don’t think the charges were incorrect, but I was worried and irritated during the whole process with this man at this location which was completely unnecessary if there was even the slightest attempt made by him to provide a semblance of customer service.

Slob sitting on picnic table smoking a cigarette didn’t even stand up to great me or say he was the employee or worker for U-Hual. Thought he was a customer. Person was rude and flippant. I asked a question and he answered, “ you do the math”, which didn’t answer the question or help me. I will NEVER DEAL WITH THIS LOCATION AGAIN. U-Hual should evaluate to keep this location open.

The person that rented me the u haul, did not check the van before I took it he just handed me the keys. When I return it he claims that the gas cover was missing. I never got gas, didn't need to. So I was charged $150. Not happy at all.

When I checked Van in, I was told I had paid for insurance. I Did NOT Want insurance. I checked that box on the online order. NOT Happy I had to pay $70.00 for something I did NOT want. Plus when I picked up Van, I had to call customer service because the self sign in was not allowing me to finish sign in at location.

I called and set up my pick up time for 7:15AM which was confirmed by a Uhaul employee. When I went to pick up the U-Haul the location wasn’t open until 8AM.

Extremely unprofessional, this location does not project the usual U-haul image. I pulled in to drop off the trailer and 2 people were sitting at a picnic table outside the building. I walked inside and waited a couple minutes, no one came in to ask if they could help me. I walked back outside and the 2 people were still sitting there at the picnic table talking to each other. I asked if there was someone that could help me and the gentleman instructed me where to put the trailer, but offered no assistance. I went to hand him the paperwork and he said that he would handle it later. So I backed the trailer into the spot where he instructed me and unhooked it myself, then left. They made no effort to assist me or check me out. I guess I was interrupting their lunch or something....very poor representation of your company and they should be removed as a U-haul location

The management and staff of this location were excellent. There was a minor technical issue with my reservation. They went above and beyond to solve this problem. I wouldn't get a truck from anyone else in Charlottesville.

The gentleman who helped us went above and beyond. My lights weren't working, so he checked fuses etc. Finally discovered the issue was our adapter. He had one for us to purchase, which was a lifesaver! Highly recommend this location!!
