I would use one of the other locations in town. The staff at this facility were friendly and courteous but two things turned me off to this location. This is an open carry state and, even though it is legal, I didn't like coming into the business with my wife talking to an employee wearing a side arm. The second thing was that the gas gauge was just shy of full when I got in the truck ( one and 1/2 marks to the right of 7/8). The move took 45 minutes and covered around 3 miles. The gauge did not move, however I was charged 14 dollars for gas. I did not argue because it was my mistake for trusting them. I thought that was not fair and that if anything the charge should have been less than 1/2.

Person helping me was very nice and capable but UHaul's website was not working properly. Not her fault at all. Apparently an upgrade had been made to the software and even the person at the 800 number couldn't process my pick-up. It wasted about 25 minutes of my time - but no fault of the person in Charlottesville.

It may not be the operator's fault. Checking the truck out took MUCH longer than it should have because he could not process my credit card. He said he had "called it in" days before but, I assume because he is such a small U-Haul location, nobody was due to come service his equipment to process credit cards for a couple more days.

I broke something in the back of the truck. Parked the truck in the return location and left to go get a trashbag, broom,and dust pan. I was pleasantly surprised when I returned later to a swept truck. I was exhausted and happy to see that I did not have to do it. Thank you.

Window was EXTREMELY dirty to the point it was hard to see st night. Also was told I had to put more gas in the truck when it was not a full tank when I got it I put gas in it prior to bringing it back and was told to put more which gave it a FULL tank, wasn't full when I took it. So no I will not use UHaul or refer anyone

Moving furniture aside, I had a most delightful exchange (I am a repeat customer) with the U-haul folks at Phillips. They are good people, and I will not hesitate to recommend them to friends and family. It is a pleasure to deal with such fine folks. "Five Star" service!

The truck ran well. But my bad experience started from the reservation. I tried to reserve a 17 foot truck in the other branch. But the Uhaul head quarter made two changes for rental locations because there was no 17 foot truck. If there was, the website has to update truck status up to date to provide good customer services. The rental location was a used furniture store. When I returned the truck, he pointed out the truck had two dents during my rental period. But I have never got any accidents or contact to anything. I had Uhaul damage insurance. He did not have to mention it in front of me or ask me it. He treated me as a liar. I purchased the insurance because I did not want to care about any issue on contact or accidents. There was not contact or accidents. He might miss old dents. Anyway, my feeling was not good. I wont recommend the location to my friend ever.

They were crowded, and did not seem like anyone knew what anyone else was doing. I pulled up in front of the building and my front tire (literally) was in the edge of the loading zone and an employee came out yelling and was extremely rude telling me that i could not park there. THe entire place smelled like someone had been smoking inside the building.

I was assured that they just needed my credit card on file, but I COULD pay with cash at drop off. I walked in to return truck, and my card was already charged! Plus I was told at check in that the truck I had reserved had a dirty bed that I had to wait for it to be cleaned. After 15-20 minutes, I was told the tires were low, and a new truck would need to be sent out. I informed the person that we were on a tight schedule. My husband needed to be at work at 12:30, but the person lacked concern completely. I will not use Uhaul again after this experience. You've lost a long time customer for sure.
